The Scottish Greens negotiated the Mansion Tax in the Scottish Budget. This will mean 1,163 mansions in Aberdeen City will pay extra towards local services such as health, educations & roads.

Riches should not be hoarded by a few people, but used for the common good.

We owe it to firefighters to keep them safe.

But they suffer a significantly increased risk of ill health as a result of their work.

Tomorrow we're leading a debate in the Scottish Parliament calling for the investment our fire service needs.

Guns beget violence and we don't need them on our streets. Totally agree with Tristan on this.
The last Scottish police officer killed on duty was 30 years ago.

This, if implemented, will get officers killed as criminal groups arm themselves in response.

It is the Police Union risking the lives of their officers so they can feel more manly, that's it.

Been thinking a lot about how we are talking about health and society so I wrote down some thoughts about what happens when self-care replaces collective care, and why joy, connection, and shared spaces are as essential to a nation’s wellbeing as any diet

Scotland will expand free school breakfast clubs and support former Mossmorran workers.

It will be paid for by taxes on private jets, shooting estates, and million pound homes.

The Scottish Green proposals were accepted by the Scottish Government and announced in today's budget.

Even though there are things I've welcomed in the Scottish Budget, I still feel that 2% extra is basically another cut for councils which are already struggling to keep public services going.

The Scottish Government has agreed to both key
@scottishgreens.org tax proposals:

✈️ A new tax on the 12,000 private jet flights taken in Scotland every year

🏰 A 'Mansion Tax' on £1 million+ homes

This will raise millions for services like schools and our NHS.

Just finished reading Prophet Song by Paul Lynch, an excellent, if at times difficult read, which should be compulsory for anyone considering voting Reform. So important to recognise the humanity of people who's life's journey brings them to a small boat.

Today's budget day and the Scottish Greens want to see:
- an expansion of free school meals
- childcare actually free from three
- expansion of free bus travel to under 30s
- introduction of a 'mansion tax'
- increased taxes on casinos and betting shops.
I also want to see funding for SPT's buses.

Gambling companies make huge profits by preying on the most vulnerable. Regulating them is reserved to Westminster, but we can increase their taxes in Scotland.

That way they would be forced to pay for the damage they cause to individuals and society.
