Sometimes I can’t tell if I’m in Slack or LinkedIn 🥴
I have a theory that those of us who were raised on IRC or AIM are absolutely insufferable in Slack to those who were not, because instead of writing a three-paragraph thing, we'll break that up into 15 comments.

I guess since my beloved em dash has been wrongfully accused of trickery, I will now revert back to the trusty ol’ double hyphen -- like so.

“Did anyone else cringe when I flubbed my words the other day or was it just me?”
Google just announced personal intelligence for Gemini which hooks into your Gmail, Photos, YouTube, and Search history to personalize answers.

The demo query is “what size tires are on my car?” which Gemini can infer it from pics or docs.

A new frontier for platform stickiness and vendor lock-in.
Gemini introduces Personal Intelligence
Personal Intelligence connects the Gemini app to your Google apps to provide more personalized suggestions.

This was a really interesting article through the lens of using LLM-based tools.

Past tools/models lost trust, so I’ve built processes to work around their incompetence. Those processes have made it difficult for newer, better tools to surprise me in a positive way.

But of course! The user always wants what they DIDN’T say they want. It’s marketing’s job to make sure they understand that.
Nintendo saw the demand for differently coloured joycons and decided for Switch 2 "what if we make them all the same colour except for a tiny little bit you won't really focus on much?"

I swear people just didn’t know em dashes were a thing. Clippy’s been turning my hyphens into em dashes for decades. Long before GPT started breaking prod.
i’m team em dashes for life

the actual tell of most AI content is just that it doesn’t have anything to say and is boring to read

people who can’t tell good writing from bad writing by content shouldn’t have any sway over how we write
I write my posts myself, not with AI. I had to take all the em dashes out because I was too worried people would think it AI generated 😔

We're going to try something new at @seattlejs.com this month and have a moderated panel discussion about using AI tooling in your workflow as a developer.

If you've been a panelist, moderator, or audience member for a great panel, please share tips/insights on what makes a great panel discussion!
