My favorite part of this is how games are going to take just as long to make and cost even more but now they transparently don’t have a human touch, because you, the consumer, deserve nothing more than soulless rehashes of everything that has ever existed.
Level-5's CEO claims that 80-90% of game coding is written by AI now.

The studio has disclosed that they extensively use AI, from everything from game code, assets, and character idea, dialogue, and narrative, which is then refined by humans.

We've talked about GenAI a lot on @remapradio.bsky.social and @theindiecouncil.com. Even if it doesn't hit the player-facing build, I do not want to play (and thus support) games using GenAI. But let me be clear, I know I probably already have. But I'm trying to avoid all I can. (conti)

Using gen ai for text and asset placeholders is not solving a problem; games have been made for decades with regular placeholders. studios using AI this way are just testing the water to see what more they can get away with - which will inevitably mean laying off skilled workers, to make worse games

I will never truly know how much genAI is used now for the things I love but I suppose I'd rather have transparency even if that transparency leads me to being so EXHAUSTED. Larian using genAI for concept art and placeholders is deeply disappointing.

consider my feedback: i loved working at @larianstudios.com until AI. reconsider and change your direction, like, yesterday. show your employees some respect. they are world-class & do not need AI assistance to come up with amazing ideas.

My thing with the art censorship situation is that it all needs to be able to exist. Especially the weirdo fucked up stuff that's horrible and makes you feel bad. Even the daft edgy shit you don't feel has a purpose. I trust no one to decide which art is morally ok! Certainly not corporations!

As some of you are aware, part of Dragon Age day was to thank the DA Devs for all the hard work they put into the series we love so much.

This is also the first DA Day where we have no DA team, as they were laid off earlier this year.

So let's make an effort to support their new projects!🧵
