I changed the default settings so it doesn't ask me to 'confirm' if I actually want to leave the meeting...the downside to that is that now I leave and people are still waving goodbye 👋 🤭

I'm looking forward to attending #ESS this week. I'm presenting research on the role of partisan affiliation in local public sector hiring - focusing on the case of school district superintendents - in the "From Polarization to Solidarity" mini-conference. DM me if you want to chat or grab coffee!

I've been working (w/Lindsay Page and @catherinematah.bsky.social) on projects using chatbots in higher education for the past few years.

There are many promising uses for AI in supporting students through complicated college processes - and many important guardrails to include when you do that!

Researchers typically assume that student-level randomization in college classrooms will bias treatment effects toward zero, due to spillovers

Randomizing across classrooms minimizes spillovers but hugely reduces power

V cool study provides guidance on tradeoff
