it's absolutely critical to understand in this moment that people aren't largely reacting to who Charlie Kirk was as a person, but who they knew him as because of what tiny pieces of him got clipped out and stuck in their newsfeeds.

My advice is to folks who are feeling deep stress over the political climate. If possible, unplug. Go outside.

Physically, go outside and spend some time there, be present with the external world. If possible, connect with people you care about. Be present in the current moment.

Just a reminder of some of the context around the TikTok ban: In 2020, Trump tried to ban it via executive order a couple months after K-pop fans used it to organize fake signups to Trump’s Tulsa rally, which led him to publicly overestimate how large the crowd size would be.

Good post. The only potential value I could see in incorporating AI into a history classroom would be in somehow using it to teach students to spot misinformation/general nonsense. Otherwise, I am in full agreement here—it just doesn’t have a place in my classes. 🗃️
