Because I feel the need to repeat this since so many people don’t seem to get it

He did not simply do a “hand gesture” twice he did it then immediately referenced the 14 words. He TRIPLED down to make sure the “dog whistle” landed, denial of this is Nazi apologia

To break the insidious hold of my fascination on new #photography gear announcements I spent some time with ChatGPT asking it to help me build a set of monthly photography challenges to help me focus on composition and storytelling and you know what - it did really well.

Why am I so unimpressed by these strikes? Israel and the US have failed to target significant elements of Iran's nuclear materials and production infrastructure. RISING LION and MIDNIGHT HAMMER are tactically brilliant, but may turn out to be strategic failures. 🧵 1/17

Over on X, Elon Musk’s AI chatbot Grok is glitching out and inserting information about “white genocide” in South Africa in response to hundreds of completely unrelated user queries about everything from sports to Medicaid cuts.

They are talking like it will be a natural progression from LLMs and such to artificial general intelligence but that is equivalent to saying "based on current trends in HVAC technology we predict that faster-than-light travel will be commonplace by 2037"

Imagine saying this without hearing what you’re saying
Lutnick: "It's time to train people not to do the jobs of the past, but to do the great jobs of the future. This is the new model where you work in these kinds of plants for the rest of your life and your kids work here and your grandkids work here. We let the auto plants go overseas."

Election day here in Canada! If you haven't taken the time to read through all the party platforms, there are a few summary pages to read. Don't vote like it's a team sport, review the platforms! There are some genuine surprises in this election.

The "X Party didn't give me a reason to vote" line is absolute bullshit. You have one job as a citizen in a democracy. Hint: it's not sit on the couch and doomscrolling. The hard work of our job as citizens is reading platforms, listening to debates and making the best choice based on we see.

I'm often intrigued by questions from strangers. Yesterday on the train, for example, someone recognized me as "that economist" and asked why "America, as the most powerful economy, doesn't run balanced trade or surpluses with all other countries?"
"Good question," I replied, continuing ...

1. LLM-generated code tries to run code from online software packages. Which is normal but
2. The packages don’t exist. Which would normally cause an error but
3. Nefarious people have made malware under the package names that LLMs make up most often. So
4. Now the LLM code points to malware.
LLMs hallucinating nonexistent software packages with plausible names leads to a new malware vulnerability: "slopsquatting."
LLMs can't stop making up software dependencies and sabotaging everything
: Hallucinated package names fuel 'slopsquatting'

Okay lets game this out: You are a Nintendo employee given unlimited funds and authority to move Switch 2 production to the US. No new factories, that's going to take way too long, you need to work with existing American Contract Manufacturing capacity. How fast can you do it?
