I strongly support that idea, not as a patriotic impulse, but because that is what the Internet is about. It is more robust if it's heterogeneous not only in its locations, but also its operations. A concentration of its infrastructure into just a few hands makes the Internet weaker.

It should be patently obvious by now that Canada cannot have a major news network owned by American interests, especially given ongoing US threats and American ownership of the major social media platforms. No other country would allow this.

Working with a student on her story, I recommend using an em-dash. She says she can't, because professors will think she's using AI. She says that's a tell now. Is it? Is the hopeless race to outsmart AI causing us to lose bits of language and punctuation?

If you take a single lesson out of Star Wars let it be that successful opposition to fascism only happened after all the different factions stopped fighting with each other and joined forces.
You can criticize your allies, of course, but you can’t be more focused on defeating them than the enemy.
