This just in: most women (most people, really, but most women for sure) don't want to be chums with people who try to literally murder them and their co-workers.
Well... yeah.

The wheel turns; the summer ends.
The light departs, the cold descends,
And we are left to hold the light
Against the cold and longest night.

The wind that howls around the door,
The tracks of snow upon the floor.
Reach for your loves and hold them tight
Against the cold and longest night.

There are two Barnes & Nobles in my city, and both have been scrubbed of any nonfiction books on queer and trans people. Not sure how the fiction section is doing yet. These are dire times. It's not unrealistic to worry about a return to the Hays Code.

The end goal is eugenicist. RFK and his ilk know that this will make vaccines more expensive and time-consuming — and therefore marginalized children are most likely to fall through the cracks.

This is about killing kids who aren't born to privilege.

U.S. plans to stop recommending most childhood vaccines, defer to doctors
The plan, which is not finalized, suggests children get fewer shots and shifts to a model telling parents to consult doctors to make their own vaccine choices.

The average American income is below the poverty line in almost every major city. If you want people to shop, you need to pay them enough money that they can spend some of it. There is an actual limit to how many hours a day a person can work.
If you want people to spend more, pay them more.

this is exactly why Mark Kelly et al did that spot telling military and intelligence officers they can refuse illegal orders — there's no way Hegseth or Trump will EVER accept blame for them
WAPO: “.. Officials in Congress and the Pentagon said Monday they are increasingly concerned that the Trump administration intends to scapegoat the military officer who directed U.S. forces to kill two survivors of a targeted strike ..”

Just imagining how much better it would be if ALL news stories about vaccine-preventable illnesses were illustrated with pictures of people with the disease, not pictures of needle injections. If you must show something that people will find scary & unpleasant, make it the disease, not the cure.
I'm so tired of measles.

I'm also tired of people using needle shots on stories like this.

Show what measles looks like.

Everybody should read this. Gives you a really good idea of the types of questions trans people have to ask ourselves almost every day just to do normal things that others don’t even need to think about.
An essay about death threats, censorship, loss, and the silence of cis people. All of these events happened in one week. I'm exhausted.

I had never really thought about the fact that The Lord of the Rings is the 500,000+ word version of “the master’s tools will never dismantle the master’s house” but here’s the explanation.
Since this whole debate is still happening, and since we are still not listening I will summarize what I understand the argument to be in the Lingua Franca of white nerds: Lord of the Rings analogies.
white cis men blocking people of color and other members of vulnerable communities because their risk factor is a lot different than ours is peak white nonsense.

It's also how I know they don't give a shit about us.

Public media is foundational to our democracy and supporting @pbs.org is just about the best value for your dollar. Plus, there are so many British mysteries!!!

The problems of today have existed forever; homophobia, racism, sexism, political oppression, ecological degradation, YOU are just more aware of them than the average person 100 years ago.

But good news! The more people know about a problem, the more likely it is to be solved!
Please give me an unironic list of things that have gotten better over the last ten years because I’m spiraling.

I’ll start: you can buy an enormous TV from Costco for like $100 bucks now.
