Middle aged broad with a messy desk.
Stumbled across this: You know the legendary Daicon IV animation? Here it is being shown for the first time at the con.

Note the roars of appreciation at all the insane animation technique bits, like the flying swords, the exploding city pan shot, and the bursting trees.

Related: If you like anime, whether you realize it or not, you've probably marveled at an "Itano Circus;" an action scene featuring aerial combat, with loads of skittering projectiles chasing a target.

This was developed by Ichirō Itano. Watch a compilation here.

This seems like a trap to turn some hot-headed gun nuts with a fishing boat into a senseless tragedy — and an excuse to declare war.
Mike Lee wants American privateers to seize drug cartel property on the high seas
Private citizens could be granted authority to seize property from drug cartels under a constitutional provision not used in more than 200 years, thanks to a new bill by Utah Sen. Mike Lee.

occurs to me that we might be getting the "there's a problem of lonely males with no friends or romantic partners" and "there's a lucrative industry of toxic male influencers who tell young men to act like assholes" causation arrow backwards

Gosh, I remember back in the day when everyone was talking about the skyrocketing teen suicide rate (also how all the queer people were going to die of AIDS & burn in hell) and then it seemed to improve for a bit and now we once again have rising homophobia & rising teen suicide rates. Hmm. HMM.

This is Scott Watanabe’s concept art of Rumi’s parents, and I’m sorry but that guy looks remarkably like J-Hope in a gat. #KPDH #BTS

This is fucking grim. Somebody invented a white guy, an "IT professional" named Edward Crabtree, who stopped the Bondi shooting and spread it all over the internet, which was picked up by AI agents and slop aggregation sites.

The real hero is a fruit stand owner named Ahmed el Ahmed.

I’m a woman who’s a smidge taller than the average UK man. Would that mean that if I visited the UK, I could still get normal portions of food, or would it just get me flagged as a suspected Gender Deviant for looking suspiciously unfeminine and not forever-dieting like a proper lady?

I was unaware that Mrs. Claus had Greek mythological lore.
#COMPANIONSofCHRISTMAS: Mrs. Claus!

Mrs. Claus was once better known by her given name, Alba. She was the nymph of the silver fir tree, a captain in the retinue of the goddess Artemis, and she first met Saint Nicolas when he came to do battle with her Lady. 1/

Predictably, the comments are full of “Not All Boomers” posts. If you’re not the kind of Trump-worshipping Boomer who goes around repeating the generic participation trophy rant, then YOU ALREADY KNOW this isn’t about you. Send it to your Facebook friend who IS.
Boomers: It just sucks so much that everyone gets participation trophies now, you used to have to show real merit to get an award

Also Boomers:

Pantone seems to make more “colour of the year” merch every year, and I think that’s a factor in their colour selection now.

E.g. In 2019 it was a bright orange, and the Sephora makeup collab didn’t seem to sell well.
Pantone’s 2026 color of the year is technically not a color at all — meet Cloud Dancer, the first-ever white shade to receive the designation from the world’s color authority.
Pantone makes a surprising choice for its 2026 color of the year
We did not see that coming.

If you use GMail, AI (Gemini) was turned on yesterday by default and now scans all of your content for machine learning. To turn off, go to Settings>General and scroll down. Uncheck the box for "Smart features."

There's other "Smart" add-ons as well, but that's the one that reads your content.

Oh yeah btw the reason why Vine is being relaunched with great fanfare and no Al is because it's jointly operated with an Al company and they probably don;t want to pollute their scrap pile with stuff they've already shat out.

Ever noticed that the auto captions that are on those Tenor GIFs embedded in Bluesky are bizarrely wrong? Like they were created by an AI?

I’m going to start posting them, because WTF.
