North West generally. What is WRONG with you people?..
I've been having a rummage in the most recent Home Office stop and search data, published earlier this month. The first thing to note is that Merseyside Police are out on their own in terms of rates per 1,000 population. #stopsearch.

I often wonder what goes on in the minds of people who (presumably) once wanted to be journalists, reporting the truth and exposing falsehoods, but who end up being paid to tell what they must know to be downright lies by propaganda sheets such as the Express.

I think I came close here in the UK - my dentist is struggling with the costs of maintaining his 25m yacht & may have to rein in his monthly foreign holidays.

As a stop gap he's been obliged to put his prices up. My last visit cost more than I paid for my mac mini.

Getting rid of the two child benefit cap will lift over 400,000 children out of poverty. The Tories oppose it. They don’t care. Never did, never will. It’s who they are.

Big news, income tax is being charged this year.

(It has to be renewed each year or it ceases to apply. Because it's a temporary tax, introduced to fund the Napoleonic wars)

Whatever is in today’s budget won’t be enough to fix, after 16 months, the mess caused by 14 years of Tory misrule. A pity that the Labour manifesto in 2024 didn’t make explicitly clear the damage that had been caused to public services and how long and expensive a job fixing it was going to be.

We have very few eel-related metaphors English now. But there used to be many more.

One of my favorites is from William Lisle’s 1631 play "The Faire Ætheopian" where he describes a procession of haughty maids as being “smug as Eeles."

Have you ever been that smug? Has anyone?

Always perplexed at this kind of listing, in that I get the value is 'a developable bit of land in London' but why has the estate agent described it as if it were, you know, going to be bought by a prospective homeowner?

Jill may have labelled IHT as 'cruel', 'horrible' & 'unfair' ,

whereas I would label it as 'generally avoidable - especially if you happen to have invested in farmland in the last 50 years'

'Unfair' seemingly having wide applicability in that case.
I don't think this was actually deliberately published as ragebait, but the entitlement contained within is remarkable and a classic example of the sort of sentiment governments sometimes just have to face down inews.co.uk/inews-lifest...?
