feels like yet again time to mention that the *videogames* industry (that's a creative industry, which people do creative degrees in) brings in more than twice the amount to the British economy as the fishing and steel industries *combined*

I cannot understand what these people think the purpose of human life is?

It is *not* "pursue joy, deal justly, love well, try to understand as much and see as much of this beautiful world and of the deepness, richness and variety of human culture and experience as you can before you die"?

How is this repeatedly made into a policy issue - by *all* parties - when the blunt fact of the matter is that grown adults who are obliged to pay for their own education, and relentlessly pursued to repay their loans, should be able to study whatever the fuck they want.

Today I walked just over one mile, but I was carrying a heavy package for the return half.

Just before he died I got to chat to Brian Clemens as part of a press junket for a remaster of The Professionals.

After about 3 polite-but-bored answers I said:

"Okay would you mind if we spent the rest of this talking about 'Bugs'? That show BLEW ME AWAY as a teen."

And he was so happy he cried.

I once worked for Radio Rentals and one time I had to speak to a customer on the phone after he sent a complaint letter. After he spent about half an hour moaning about the service that he had received, I said I noticed it said he was a composer on his letter head and his name was Christopher Gunning. So I said are you the Christopher Gunning who did the music for the BBC’s Day of the Triffids, and he said he was, so I proceeded to tell him how amazing I thought his music was for the series, which I have loved ever since I first watched it aged 10. Well his whole attitude immediately changed and I think I really made his day. True story.

RIP JILLY COOPER! A queen who wrote THE most readable books in existence. People saw my thread of epic Jilly quotes and decided I was saying the books are shite. You COULDN'T be more wrong. Go and watch Rivals today.

🧵Some real Jilly Cooper quotes from her Rutshire Chronicles, the series of books that Rivals is from.

1) "Her breasts swayed like party balloons when the front door opens"

Okay nobody say anything about Babylon 5 Session 3 because Gus is apparently watching.

I have finished Babylon 5 season 3 and now I get to read the comments my slightly-ahead first time watchers made when they were watching, it is delightful.

Fun evening, with fun people 🥳. Congrats again @clclark.bsky.social for the book launch and thank you for the chat 😁.

(And cheers to @charlieedmunds.bsky.social for reading those books within the last few weeks and then being like "So. Book launch in London. We're going, right?" 🤣).

the poster and trailer are both extremely misleading. it's a comedic thriller about a leftist revolutionary being pursued by white supremacists, and it opens with a raid on an ICE facility. none of which is readily apparent from the marketing!

Six is just too many!
I would rather three for the price of two even though that's not as good maths.
