How is this repeatedly made into a policy issue - by *all* parties - when the blunt fact of the matter is that grown adults who are obliged to pay for their own education, and relentlessly pursued to repay their loans, should be able to study whatever the fuck they want.

There has always been a small, noisy minority of gay people whose belief in gay rights boils down to "I shouldn't have to give up any of my prejudices because of who I am." And straight people in media have always fallen all over themselves to hire them.

I kind of can’t believe this Bari Weiss quote is even real, and yet www.nytimes.com/2025/10/06/b...
“I know that there are some people in this room who don’t believe that my marriage should have been legal … and that’s ok. Because we’re all Americans who want lower taxes.”

also chappell roan gets residuals because Pink Pony Club was (inexplicably) the Oilers' theme song last season, so the show meanspiritedly plays it over the Panthers' victory montage.

tbh if you're at all interested in hockey then I recommend the new Panthers ep of Amazon's NHL docuseries. the show in general is pretty vacuous but that one ep is so entertaining because it's just multiple montages of Florida rats pestering their opponents to the point of public meltdowns.

I'm listening to one of the big hockey podcasts and the host is unironically suggesting that they should've just cancelled the game halfway through and sent everyone home

You know, after laughing out loud at the wording of this post, it really unlocked something for me. We've been watching "cartoon characters can't consent" for at least a decade. That cartoon characters can now have a ~convincing months'-long convo with you is truly reality-shattering for people.
spooksmalloy.bsky.social
The OP she’s quoting is just as lost in the sauce and it’s beautiful, just a new generation of people asking if cartoon characters can consent but this time they’re running a website and actively marginalising vulnerable people

and this isn't a Lemonade/Dirty Computer kinda situation. it just sounds like typical promo content packaged for a cinematic release. mercenary!!!

Just saw these stills from Akira Kurosawa's High and Low and said "Good heavens" out loud.
Man peering out of a bed of flowers with a reflection shining back from his glasses. Back facing shot of a man watching sail boats from behind a fence. Silhouette of a man pulling a gun on another man as he looks at the backdrop of the mountains Mustached man gripping his briefcase tightly, face scrunched up in a scowl, as he rides in a filled passenger car.

‘Thunberg was “wrapped in the Israeli flag and paraded like a trophy.”’

““They dragged little Greta [Thunberg] by her hair before our eyes, beat her, and forced her to kiss the Israeli flag. They did everything imaginable to her, as a warning to others,” the Turkish activist ErsinÇelik, a participant in the Sumud flotilla, told Anadolu news agency.”+

at one point we BRIEFLY see some of his garden. no hints of personal life or opinions. full respect to his desire for privacy but there's only so many times they can reword the same statement about Competitive Spirit before you start to sense the documentary editors panicking about lack of material.

obsessed w the new sidney crosby ep of amazon's NHL docuseries, maybe the least informative documentary ever made. they're allowed to do three things: talk about his desire to Win, film him working out, and speculate about whether he might switch teams (with zero comment from the man himself).

I guess the question is what do you define as harassment? (like, allowing someone to use the site to incite offline harassment seems ... ok to you? but replying or posting with a "negative" or "mean" tone is ... not ok?) Genuinely, it is unclear what bsky means given the "waffles" of it all.
jay.bsky.team
Harassing the mods into banning someone has never worked. And harassing people in general has never changed their mind.

the origin story for Chase Infiniti's name is just SO good
Infiniti uses her middle name as her surname. She was named after the Batman Forever (1995) character Chase Meridian, played by Nicole Kidman, and Buzz Lightyear's line "To infinity and beyond" from Toy Story (1995).

human sex hormones are lifesaving medication etc etc etc but i also think you should just be allowed to play with them without having to ask for permission first. what’s the fucking point of a cyberpunk dystopia where you can’t even impulse buy some cross-sex hormone therapy at the gas station
