"let's turn the temperature down" is what you say when your sauce is about to burn not when you've got the American Gestapo in your streets what the fuck Tim

Dead theater in a dying mall in a dying town

Maybe it'll come back. Has before. Feels permanent in these bleaker times.

So my wife asked my kid what name he would pick for a girl kitten and he said Rose and I thought "Aww"

And then as I was looking at my kid holding Rose yesterday I thought to myself "Fuck, people are gonna think we're big fans of the movie Titanic with these two names."

That "dropped the car off for an oil change and a tire rotation please god nothing else" type of anxiety. Very specific and unique flavor. Have been looking forward to this tasting for a week.

Been kinda funny seeing people come to realize that the best of the new Star Trek stuff has been Lower Decks.

Not Picard, not Discovery, not Strange New Worlds, it's the cartoon. That's the one that feels most like what Star Trek should be.

Alternate timeline where we're still waiting for the final seasons of Game of Thrones because they were waiting for more books but they still aren't out yet

Started watching Batman: The Animated Series yesterday

"On Leather Wings" is a perfect first episode. First produced, at least. "The Cat and the Claw", a two-parter that aired in the summer before the series premiered, kinda sucks.

"Heart of Ice" is perfect.

The same "hey man yeah maybe" style of agnosticism I prefer - which allows me the mental space that goes "there may be aliens or ghosts" - also makes me sometimes think "Well shit, maybe demons are real. Hope not."

People that go "Heaven and hell are real but there are no aliens" - boo fuck you

Kinda tough to get my kid into characters like Batman, Spider-Man, Superman and the X-Men when there aren't Fucking Sweet Cartoons about those guys playing on tv after school

Could I force the boy to watch these cartoons? Yes. Absolutely. But it's best to get to that stuff naturally.

Blundering through the 1-3 HD collection when I got a PS5 and playing through Delta (badly) is forcing me to confront something as an adult that I thought I learned as a teenager -

I am fucking terrible at the Metal Gear Solid games. I can get through them, but Snake is gonna have a real bad time.

My kid is 12, and the likelihood of him going to school with some kid named after a character on Game of Thrones is probably about 80%.

Don Draper would be a phenomenal poster. Someone bares their soul in therapy and he goes this would make a great ad. Thats a posters instinct.

Organized a bunch of blu-rays yesterday.

Sometimes shit happens when you accumulate media (books, music, films, etc) when you organize everything really well once. But then continue to accumulate shit so a second library has begun at the end of the first and shit was just out of hand.

Took a bit.

Sports stuff is always weird to me because I see people twisting themselves into knots for teams they hate to win over another team they hate and my life is dumb but I don't put myself through shit like that

In the same sense of "I don't like the Resident Evil Remakes because the modern graphics are more detailed and thus creepier to me", I got Snake Eater Delta over the holidays and almost shit my pants the first time I saw crocodiles

"Ah fuck, nope."

Next time you're at the comic shop/bookstore, check and see if they've got the compact edition of DC: The New Frontier. Give it to yourself, a friend, a family member.

Ten bucks for one of the greatest comics ever made, can't beat it.

Side note - The DC compact editions rule. Just so you know.

If they truly think the video makes the shooting seem justified, it’s because they believe summary execution is an appropriate punishment for “being a bitch” and they feel confident that many other men believe the same thing
The new video makes clear that

1) he told her to get out of the car, and ultimately shot her, because he wanted to punish her for making him feel small

2) she made him feel small, not because she was a threat to him or anyone else, but because she was not afraid of him

a government agent, who murdered a civilian for peacefully protesting, flying a dont-tread-on-me flag is such a perfect distillation of the maga ethos it almost feels fake
ICE agent Jonathan Ross, who shot and killed an unarmed civilian, flew a don't-tread-on-me Gadsden flag at his house, per the Daily Mail.
