Not yet. He hasn't closed almost all of the science institutes. There are plenty still working on science, including the one I work for. But we need to keep fighting to preserve funding and capabilities. @standupforscience.bsky.social is a great starting pointing for joining the political fight.

Seems like Erickson and Good would probably disagree on politics. But she seemed like a kind and decent person. And she didn't seem like the sort of Christian who would, say, celebrate the violent death of a mom, wife, and fellow Christian.

Texas A&M has decided that Plato is woke & thus has forbidden a philosophy professor from teaching Plato's works.

Not a joke. Not satire. This is the world the anti-woke "free speech warriors" have bequeathed us.

Texas A&M Bans Plato - Daily Nous
Drop the race and gender material from your course and the Plato readings, or teach a different course. You have a day to decide. That's a paraphrase of what Martin Peterson, professor of philosophy at Texas A&M University, was told by university officials today about his upcoming "Contemporary Moral Problems" course, due to start next

The right-wing bullshit machine is operating at full steam & across all cylinders today, strategically framing the horrific ICE killing of a MN woman to defend/bolster their political aims. For exampe, Trump's message (below) will shape how his supporters (willfully mis)interpret the video evidence.
Trump: "I have just viewed the clip of the event which took place in Minneapolis. It is a horrible thing to watch. The woman screaming was, obviously, a professional agitator, and the woman driving the car was very disorderly, obstructing and resisting ... "

With all due respect, @repkimschrier.bsky.social, I want to see you and everyone who signed that letter co-sponsoring the articles of impeachment against RFK Jr.

He is going to get your constituents killed. You need to do more than e-sign a letter.
RFK Jr.'s decision to gut the childhood immunization schedule - with no consultation from reputable experts - is reckless and puts children’s lives at risk.

One way to get more Dems to start calling loudly & constantly for impeachment every day would be for everyone to stop giving total free passes to the Republicans whose votes are needed to impeach & remove. If only Dems get yelled at, it’s not surprising they’re timid. People respond to incentives.
Yes, Democrats are feckless & need new leaders & should be yelling every day on the Capitol steps about impeachment & removal. And yet, they could do all that, we’d all feel better, & it would <still require> Lisa Murkowski & company to stop violating their oaths & do the things. We need to focus.
Yes, Democrats should do 👇💯. Yes, every one should be calling for immediate impeachment & removal.

And, guess what? If every one of them did that, it <still wouldn't happen> until <Congressional Republicans do their damn jobs>. Thune, Johnson, & co. get total free passes every day. It's maddening.

So, go do that: standupforscience.net/impeach-rfkjr

It helps us amp up attention on this as Congress comes back from holiday.
Why push for impeachment?

Because politics is an exercise in moving public opinion as much as counting votes in the senate.

The Jan 6 Hearings were not a criminal proceeding against Trump that would end in jail, but they focused public attention.

Performative public investigations matter
