🚨 New preprint out!
We reconstructed parental haplotypes in >440k individuals (UK & Estonian biobanks) to estimate assortative mating directly in the parental generation.
This reveals intensified assortment in recent generations.

🚨 Our parent-of-origin study is out in Nature! 🧬
Maternal and paternal alleles can have distinct — even opposite — effects on human traits, revealing a hidden layer of genetic architecture that standard GWAS miss.

In a study of professors, women got 378 new work requests over 4 weeks vs 118 for men. Women spent more time on service, advising & teaching; men on research. Orgs should track who is taking extra duties & ensure they are rewarded and distributed fairly. www.forbes.com/sites/kimels...

Women are more likely to take on behind-the-scenes duties at work—extra tasks like onboarding or event planning—and it's hurting their careers. Here's how to say no.

Really enjoying Prof Emma Robinson’s accessibly-delivered talk on behavioural markers of mood/antidepressant effects! Really clear justification for focus on behavioural readouts of mood - and v thought provoking notes on welfare. #BAP2025

Studying the genetics of intelligence measures can help us understand the neurobiology of cognition and neurodevelopmental conditions 🧬🧠

We estimated missing intelligence test scores in @ukbiobank.bsky.social to reduce bias and boost power.

We provide context for this study, highlight what we think is its critical finding and key questions that still need to be addressed, before considering the potentially serious public health implications of this work.

Check out our new OCD GWAS (53,660 cases and 2,044,417 controls) in @natgenet.nature.com 🧬🧠

Genetic risk was associated with excitatory neurons in the cortex and hippocampus. There was much genetic overlap with anxiety, depression, and anorexia.

Final version published so time to talk about it: doi.org/10.1093/aje/...

When using multiple imputation to account for missing data we often use auxiliary variables (variables included in the imputation model but not the analysis model) to 1) reduce bias and 2) improve statistical efficiency.
Analyses using multiple imputation need to consider missing data in auxiliary variables
Abstract. Auxiliary variables are used in multiple imputation (MI) to reduce bias and increase efficiency. These variables may often themselves be incomple
