Democrats have been fighting for months to address America's healthcare crisis

For the millions who will lose coverage
For people with cancer who won't get the care they need
For working families who can't afford to pay $25K more a year for healthcare

We will keep fighting

The party you lead in the senate capitulated for literally nothing. You have failed as a leader. Resign. You’re not fighting

Honestly it’s kind of surprising it took five days for the Democrats to suck all the energy out of the election. Thought it would be later that night.

Shame on them is the best she’s got. Pathetic.
Agree.

Sen Hassan, asked what will happen if Republicans don't carry out the deal, "Well, shame on them."

This is not what people were mobilizing for on Oct 18.

Primary. Every. Democrat.
New from me in @newrepublic.com: “Primary Every Democrat.”

If the current crop cannot demonstrate they care more about democracy than enjoying three-day weekends, we should flood the zone and challenge them all.
Primary Every Democrat
It’s exhausting to watch poll-tested, donor-beholden congressional Democrats continue to be too old, too cloistered, and too bumbling to do anything as the government burns.

Americans will remember Democrats caving for literally no concessions.
Hassan: With the government reopening shortly, Republicans now finally have to come to the table. Or make no mistake, Americans will remember who stood in the way.

even when the democratic party has leverage and one of the craziest election swings the party intentionally self immolates it’s just so exhausting what is even the point of these people

He can’t hold a pen to write a resignation because he doesn’t have a spine.
Senator Schumer has failed to lead this party in one of its most critical moments, and Americans will pay the price. It’s time for him to step down from leadership and make way for a new generation willing to fight for the people instead of the powerful.

TBH all these people should be primaried
okay, so, with Dems successfully keeping anyone up in 2026 for voting for this turd let's take a look at who's up in 2026 anyway:

1. Cory Booker - apparently involved behind the scenes, constantly looking for bipartisanship. I don't dislike him personally but he doesn't have what we need. Primary.

A Dem senator had one (1) flight canceled and decided to give into Republican demands and re-open the government. That's exactly what happened.
not enough chatter about how frequently members fly and how attacking airport capacity directly affects them in a way that cutting SNAP does not

More like in the face
Trump is 30 points underwater. Dems swept the special elections. People know the GOP is responsible for the shutdown. So the Dem Senators pulled out their big guns... and shot themselves in the foot.

I would say we dodged a bullet having this milquetoast ass man as a VP but uhhhh
Jesus Christ, @kaine.senate.gov, getting a pinky promise to hold one single vote on ACA funding is not "a path toward fixing the health care mess" anymore than a lottery ticket is a "path toward fixing my personal finances"
“Um well there aren’t even any Senate Dem Press releases saying they support the deal”

Sen Tim Kaine: Hold my beer

I am amazed by the people who don't think this is going to further radicalize the left. Talk about not reading the room at all.
The centrists in the Senate Democratic caucus saw that the country was rallying to the party in the 2025 elections and resolved that they would do anything they could to kill that momentum.

@paulscheer.com is a great dude and this character is hilariously relevant

If Schumer votes AGAINST this but enough Ds vote FOR it that it passes, he needs to RESIGN immediately.

He will have shown himself to be absolutely ineffective as a minority leader. He has to go.

Literally resign tonight.

lets assume the deal is as described and the GOP doesn't renege on any of it. that means

we get:
-gov't funded thru 30 jan
-snap thru 30 sep 26
-reverts staffing to 30 sep 25

GOP gets:
-De Facto repeal of Obamacare (the vote on ACA subsidies will fail. there aren't 12 gop to go along with it.)
Tentative Senate deal to end shutdown, multiple sources tell me & @frankthorp.bsky.social:

—CR through Jan 30
—Approps minibus
—Fully funds SNAP
—Reverses Trump’s shutdown RIFs
—Promise of Senate vote on ACA subsidies by Dec second week (details/outcome uncertain)
—Led by King/Shaheen/Hassan

The Democrats absolutely caved. Which is not just entirely expected but awful politics. The Republicans got all the damage of the shutdown and will get all the credit for opening. Their only concession is a promise of a vote, which will fail anyway. Absolute clown party.

This is what we call foreshadowing in the biz
KC has scored the two latest goals in NWSL playoff history …

90+10 Del Fava at HOU 2022 qtr (game-winner)

90+13 DiBernardo PKG at ORL 2024 semi

Just sayin'
