Great review of A24’s Heretic. I agree that only endowed Latter-day Saint will fully understand this film.
Honestly, I’m shocked at how none of the published reviews that I have read so far have understood the central symbol in the film at all.
I’ll get straight to the point. Only an endowed Latter-day Saint can understand this film fully. It is written for them and to them, though many missed it. 4/

The entire film is an inversion of the LDS endowment ceremony. The home is the anti-temple: the movement from room to room; specific words and phrases; the instructions at the doors; the visual aids; the altar. The location of the cuts the two sister missionaries receive. It hits you over the head 5
