Once again, you're working with terrible, exploitative companies to push "A.i." into the classroom. You can use words like "safely, wisely, and ethically," but the companies you're working with have demonstrated that they have no interest in any of that. And the tech is bullshit. We all know this.

@rweingarten.bsky.social: Educators must be able to maximize the good and minimize the bad, to use it safely, wisely and ethically. That’s why we first developed commonsense guardrails for using AI, and now we’ve launched the National Academy for AI Instruction. #TEACH25

Goodbye, 1,580-day streak. And goodbye Duolingo. I’m not supporting a company that’s firing living, breathing employees to go full AI. (I should have known this was coming when they killed off the owl.) Anybody recommend a good language-learning program that has humans involved in its development?

It just occurred to me that the singer's request for a '54 convertible in "Santa Baby" was probably intended to show her desire for a brand new car, and not, as I've always interpreted it, to show that she's a collector of cool, old vintage vehicles.

1. A teacher in Ohio who has worked at the same public school for 34 years was suspended without pay and threatened with termination for offering four books in her classroom library that contained LGBTQ characters.

She's fighting back.

This fascinating poll and accompanying article were written and developed by my brilliant daughter. But I’d be reposting it even if it weren’t.
19% of Americans identify as neurodivergent ♾️. Additionally, 32 of Americans know what “neurodiversity” means.

I am delighted to share my poll and article from last month with @today.yougov.com on neurodiversity in the U.S.

Surprise science lesson! Apparently, the “emergency” water you put in storage after Hurricane Sandy can evaporate even if the containers are never opened, leaving you with nothing but empty plastic jugs and a gratefulness that you haven’t lost your water service again since then.

How much do I love that I made a post saying my feed was lacking in cute animal content and subsequently I got followed by a slew of animal accounts? (The answer is “a lot,” btw. I love it a lot.)

Where are all the funny animal pic accounts? Is there a starter pack for that? My feed doesn’t have nearly enough funny animal videos.

It sickens me that this type of thing even has to happen, but bravo, Amanda Jones, for continuing to take the fight back to the banners and harassers.
#FreedomtoRead #LibrariansRule
Yesterday, I filed two federal lawsuits against a man in New Jersey. He writes patently false things about me and other librarians. These falsehoods are very dangerous. They make me feel unsafe. They make a lot of librarians feel unsafe.

For the librarians. #Invictus
