"We don't usually introduce explanatory framing about someone unless the dispute is material. For example, reporting on a catholic, journalists do not routinely add that some protestants dispute the catholic doctrine."
EXCLUSIVE
The BBC has circulated leaked guidance telling journalists to describe trans women as “biological males”.

Clarity should not come at the cost of dignity. #bbc #humanrights #journalism #transparency #transrights

My family's dealing with a whole lot right now, with my mother's dementia and my father's cancer both in late stages, an elderly dog, and mounting debt. Anything you can spare would mean the world, and even sharing helps!

There's something bleakly funny about photoshopping all those tech billionaires onto an upper-story I-beam, as if any of them have ever taken on an iota of personal risk in their line of work
This is such a cop-out

Went to see a movie last night, and was struck by the 3-hit combo of back-to-back commercials for Harry Potter, Ozempic, and the AI christmas Coke ad

Fuckin' dystopian

It can feel futile sharing charitable causes when so many people are, themselves, too busy struggling to help – but I have to hope that with enough attention, it'll reach people in a position to offer aid <3

I would adamantly and furiously demand full reparations, of wealth and land, with interest, to African-American, Indigenous, and all those colonized by the American empire, as defined by them and on their terms, *with interest*, no matter how much I would have to personally divest
"my least woke opinion is---"

That's enough. We've had enough people indulging in the "thrill of a little conservatism", as a treat. Of considering reactionary thought to be a salacious and taboo in a world descending into reactionary mania.

Give me your MOST woke opinions. We're bringing it back.

“I Thought I Heard Your Voice Just Then” is a new eight-page comic drawn by @jlaguff.bsky.social and written by myself. You can read it below or purchase it on a pay-what-you-want basis on Itch.io (which I recommend, Bluesky compression being what it is):

It would also be 'attesting to a historical fact' to list your height & weight at birth on your ID, but I think you'll find that this info is not in fact relevant on a day-to-day basis... Unless, of course, you plan to use it to treat people differently
Honestly one of the worst, most disturbing paragraphs — on the basis of process, substance, and effect — I’ve read in a Supreme Court order or opinion in a very long time.

Voting for the lesser evil and withholding your vote to pressure the lesser evil to move left are both, fundamentally, progressive tactics

We can argue about which is more effective, but let's not lose sight of the fact that the real villains are the people in power forcing us to make that choice

We live in the most evil country in the world.
The USDA sent an email to grocery stores telling them they are prohibited from offering special discounts to customers affected by the SNAP funding lapse.
I'm aware of at least 2 stores that had offered struggling customers a discount, then withdrew it after receiving this email

Feels like the main appeal of this product is twofold:
"Shiny over-engineered products make me feel like I'm living in the future" and "I don't want to look at service workers"
Why would someone pay $20k for a robot controlled by a human in a remote location to do things more slowly and clumsily when the median wage for a maid or housekeeper is $33k per year, which is typically spread across 10-20 households?

"allies" who won't even fight for our rights to participate in sports are so spineless imo, transphobes are not gonna leave us alone and let us have happy lives with respect and healthcare if we let them exclude us from sports.
