This is an ableist take. "A commitment to suffering". You're making assumptions regarding what it's like dating a disabled person. Whether someone is disabled or not. People do get sick, anything can happen and that shouldn't change how you view them.
There's always a reality factor to relationships. Which sucks and shouldn't be a thing, but safety nets are so bad.
We all need someone who can fill our needs and that person shouldn't need to be our partner, but a commitment to suffering is something not all can overcome

It's really hard to date when you are disabled cause once people know the full extent of your disabilities and how it's affected your life. People run away. Doesn't matter how amazing or kind you are or whether you're independent. They don't care. It's very isolating.
