Every time I see a case of severe malaria requiring IV artesunate I am reminded of how completely bonkers drug pricing in the US is. A treatment course anywhere else in the world is <100$ in the US it's $30,000. Pls take malaria prophylaxis if indicated for travel.🙏🏽

Unaffordable treatment for severe malaria highlights U.S. drug market pitfalls
It is shocking to think that U.S. citizens may receive better treatment for severe malaria at lower cost in a low-income country than they would at home.

Astronomers say they have found the strongest indication of life beyond our solar system, on a planet 124 light-years away called ‘K2-18b.’

While they have not declared the finding of life, they detected “potential biosignatures” that are typically produced by living organisms like marine algae.

RFK Jr. is out running his mouth again about “environmental causes” of autism, by which he most likely means vaccines.

He has predetermined the findings of the “study” that he hired a documented fraud, David Geier, to conduct on vaccines, and now he will manufacture the evidence.

I won't respect someone more because of their status or authority and I won't respect someone less because of their lack of such. I will respect everyone by default until they do something to lose my respect.

The best way to stop this outbreak is a measles vaccination campaign. Tried and true. Works 100% of the time. Will authorities in Texas make the right call?
According to the Houston Chronicle, public health officials in Texas think that there are likely 200-300 people now infected with measles. If confirmed, this outbreak is already out of control. H/t to @mickiemo.bsky.social for the heads up. www.chron.com/news/houston...

It's dangerous to privatize an industry with a fixed demand (such as healthcare). Normally, the prices of a privatized market adjust itself based on supply and demand but healthcare has a FIXED DEMAND so the providers can charge literally ANY price and people will still have to pay for it.

One thing people do not know about vaccine preventable childhood illnesses is how severe they can be in adults. Every adult I have ever consulted on with chickenpox or measles ended up in the hospital and some even needed ICU care. These illnesses are not benign we do NOT want them to re-surge!
🚨UPDATE: At least 14 people have been hospitalized in a measles outbreak in an under-vaccinated part of Texas. 24 cases so far, mainly children.

Health officials worry some parents might not seek care for their kids. Dangerous & means this will keep spreading.
