I expect very little from the @richmond.com Opinion page, but there's no reason to run a substance-free letter claiming Spanberger is leading VA into a socialist hellscape *more than two full weeks* before she's even taken office other than to propagandize readers. Pathetic shit.
Letter: Virginia state government headed the wrong direction
The voters of Virginia have chosen to make Virginia a "blue" state. That decision reflects a great gap in understanding of who the Democrats really are.

A president who wanted a peace prize is actually a prime candidate to be tried for war crimes.

Every American should be ashamed of who we are and what we have become as a nation today. We have a long history of military misadventures and even crimes but the attacks we have been conducting on Venezuela are among the most wanton, egregious and least defensible acts we’ve ever conducted.

Mark Warner's reelection path is shaping up to be an easy one.
State Senator Bryce Reeves drops out of the 2026 Virginia Senate race

Reeves was the biggest name who announced so far

But any Republican would face an uphill climb in Virginia during Trump midterm

Doesn’t seem like GOP will invest in the race

DEMS WIN BIG IN IOWA: Democrat Renee Hardman wins IA State Senate SD-16 with 71.5%, a 27-point Dem overperformance from 2024. Harris won the district by 16. Hardman's victory blocks a GOP supermajority and makes history as the first Black woman elected to the Iowa Senate.

I will say that Maine being the oldest state in the Union is hurting it here. The talent bench is pretty thin among the under-fifty crowd. Which is no shade to the young bucks who are running, just that the deck is stacked against them, what with The Olds occupying the whole cursus honorum

Paramount Skydance in a literal sense does not have the income, or even the valuation, to purchase WB. The only way they could do it at the amounts they're offering is by taking out multi-billion loans that'd put them in debt many times more than they're even valued at.
Even Warner Bros itself has a higher valuation than Paramount Skydance, so none of this makes any sense.

Blockbuster were offered to purchase Netflix a couple decades ago because they were in financial trouble, but were ultimately rejected.

And look at them now, Blockbuster no longer exists and Netflix is one of the biggest entertainment companies in the world.

We don’t need more candidates pulling the 2020 Sanders strategy of “if everyone doesn’t drop out I only need 30%”. Nor more attempts by white candidates to create rules about “corporate” donors & Super PACS that disproportionately hurt minority candidates, which they ignore themselves (2020 Warren).

Bernie has already flipped back to his original anti immigration position that he held prior to 2020 when he ran on decriminalizing the border.

Will the rest of the leftist movement follow Bernie & stop prioritizing openish borders to appeal to anti immigration voters?
