Surprisingly little coverage of the 10th anniversary of the Paris Agreement, tbh. The undisputed high watermark for multilateralism and a belief in a better future, as well as the primary mechanism for averting civilisation-scale disaster, and the milestone is still passing largely without comment.

We now expect 2025 annual temperatures to more or less tie 2023 as the second warmest year on record in ERA5, at around 1.48C relative to preindustrial (1850-1900).
However, other surface temperature datasets (e.g. Berkeley Earth) may show a tad lower as the third warmest.

El Niño is over but the heat is still here
This continued warmth means that it is likely that 2025 will end up more or less tying 2023 as the second or third warmest year since records began in 1850.

Yes the CO2 rise 2023-2024 was faster than we predicted at Mauna Loa and was a record rise there - now the WMO confirm the global mean rise was also a record
Also the rate of CO2 rise is now above the IPCC scenarios that limit global warming to 1.5C

Trafikverket har nu bestämt sig. Efter skarpa direktiv från regeringen har de landat i hur mycket pengar av 1 200 miljarder som ska gå till det mest hållbara trafikslaget cykel. Och summan är noll (0) kronor.
