A few years ago the NBN (Fiber to the node) at my house failed because a 19th century lead and copper wire broke and got wet inside. My NBN is down again and guess what, they had only replaced the fucked bit a few years ago and another bit of OLD wire has failed.

I can't give details, but I've seen recently very distressed students come to me because multiple LLMs have very confidently and INCORRECTLY confirmed their biases instead of just saying "I am not possibly equipped to respond to that, see an expert first".

Consider the implications if ChatGPT started saying "I don't know" to even 30% of queries
- a conservative estimate based on the paper's analysis of factual uncertainty in training data. Users accustomed to receiving confident answers to virtually any question would likely abandon such systems rapidly.

The thing is, "antifa" isn't any kind of actual organisation. So they can simply declare this, then accuse anyone they don't like as being "antifa", and thereby prosecute them as a terrorist.

On Monday, two senior administration officials, who spoke anonymously to describe the internal planning, said that cabinet secretaries and federal department heads were working to identify organizations that funded or supported violence against conservatives. The goal, they said, was to categorize left-wing activity that led to violence as domestic terrorism, an escalation that critics said could lay the groundwork for crushing anti-conservative dissent more broadly.
