After years of talking to Trump supporters my view of them has become very simple: They want socialist, even sometimes progressive reforms but they want them from someone who makes those reforms feel powerful and masculine and they want to make sure the people they don't like don't benefit from them

New piece.

A long deep dive piece into the reasons beyond the punditry and headlines as to why Harris and Democrats as a whole failed in 2024.

I firmly believe this is about far more existential, psychological, and structural reasons than it has been depicted as. Here’s why.
The Deeper Reasons Democrats Lost
It wasn't just that Trump got more votes. It wasn't just that Harris had lower turnout. A deep dive into the psychological, existential, and systemic reasons Harris and Democrats didn't win in 2024.

If we get through this, twenty or thirty years from now, I want to see those who participated in the scapegoating of trans people begging for forgiveness as they become utter pariahs.

I will not forget. I will not forgive. And I am going to survive just to spite all of you “good Germans”

For those who find the holidays difficult, I want you to know that I am thinking of you with great affection.

This Thanksgiving weekend is almost over, with just 48 hours left.

Think of how quickly time moved from Tuesday to Thursday.

This holiday will pass just as swiftly.

I’ve thought a lot about this sort of thing recently, as we’ve seen such a dramatic increase in the amount of homophobic and transphobic things being said and done publicly. Destabilizing is the right word. It makes you redraw the boundaries of where and who you thought were safe
people who have never experienced open racism — or open bigotry of any sort — do not appreciate the way it can be psychologically destabilizing. and on the main, it actually isn’t healthy to be so resilient and thick-skinned that you don’t react to slurs and dehumanization

Art drawn by people who very rarely make art and think they are “bad at art” is 1000x cooler than AI art. It’s life-affirming. It’s often unexpected. I cannot overemphasize how much I love when people just go for it. You do not need the machine for this human endeavor.

On hiking trails, snow-covered mountainsides and even out on the water, these felines are proving that not all domestic cats are content to simply watch the world from a windowsill.
Adventure cats blaze new trails in Oregon’s great outdoors
Felines are evolving from neighborhood prowlers to adventure partners — on forest trails and even on the water.
