I've not really done an introduction yet, so for those who don't know me from *there*:
I'm Clear Autism, and I post about neurodiversity/neurodivergence, disability and carers rights, and related issues, in English and French (UK based but lived in France for years). Probably AuDHD but shy about it.

I think more people should be aware of how much cool stuff Link does in real life. He’s not just a poster.

“As a neurodiversity advocate and as an autistic person, I’m really grateful for so much of the work that’s been done that allows me to be myself and to be successful being myself.” Link, who has been *banned*!?!? from this platform?

Space Law, Race, and Neurodiversity: Autistic Advocate AJ Link
We live in a country & society that is built on racism. The neurodivergent community isn't free of that racism—per Autistic advocate AJ Link.

My favorite new initialism: AI;DR I'll be using this a lot from here on out.

I just saw someone use the abbreviation “AI;DR” and I’ll be laughing for a while.

It's not difficult to recognise autism in girls. You just need to pay attention!

I think the people who saw no issues with assisted dying being brought in in the UK should take a look at this and think about Britain's lethal contempt for disability.

This is utterly heartbreaking. Too sad for words. A direct result of underfunding the NHS.

Semi-regular update on how many jobs there actually are for disabled people in the UK, according to DWP Find a Job

All Jobs: 110,774
Fully Remote: 673
Of which are disability confident: 92
Of which are part-time: 5

BUT 3 of them are in care homes, so TWO WHOLE JOBS

Autism is not a set of external behaviours.

It's a fundamental neurological difference that can be visible or hidden, but you're Autistic regardless of which one you are.

So, to no surprise, 'brand new ABA' is still barely considering whether its goals are relevant to autistic people.
Sigh.

Do they consider autistic people to be people at all...?
Black and white portrait photo of Ole Ivar Lovaas, a late middle aged white man, wearing a striped shirt, jacket and tie.

There is a quote beside the photo. The text reads:

"You see, you start pretty much from scratch when you work with an autistic child.
You have a person in the physical sense—they have hair, a nose and a mouth—but they are not people in the psychological sense. One way to look at the job of helping autistic kids is to see it as a matter of constructing a person. You have the raw materials, but you have to build the person"

“It is precisely because of this richness that the Neurodiversity Paradigm has become such a vital framework: it refuses reductionism in any direction, whether biological or environmental.”

We refuse reductionism in any direction.

We like the sound of that.

Only 26% of autistic pupils say they feel happy at school.
As of June 2025, 236,225 people are waiting for an autism assessment in England. This is a 53% increase in two years.
Only 3 in 10 autistic adults are in work, among the lowest for any disability.”

According to the Royal College of Psychiatrists, over 65,000 people are waiting for an assessment for autism and ADHD in Scotland, including more than 40,000 children.

Excuse me for being a bit touchy today for obvious reasons but just no. I can't even be bothered to go into how egregiously poor the study they're discussing is because autism is NOT a disease and there is no such thing as a cure for natural, healthy variability in how human brains work

I say again, where were the autistic people involved here? Did anyone think to involve us? The cause of autism is having autistic parents (hi Dad ❤️). I do not want to not be autistic. I want society to stop excluding me and my ND (and trans, of course) at an individual and structural level
clearautism.bsky.social
Reminder that autism doesn't exist outside of autistic people.

So if a politician - or anyone else - is talking about means of reducing autism, be *really* clear about what they mean by that.
clearautism.bsky.social
The point is that autism is so extremely heterogeneous (if you've met one autistic person, etc) that it is misleading to say the least to suggest that it's possible to reduce its prevalence.

What *exactly* is it about autism are you going to reduce, and how do you propose to reduce it?
