And now with some #wargaming and #spreadthelard. Do come see us if you’re in the Arnhem area this weekend

I'll be at the Hartenstein Airborne Museum this coming weekend along with @jurdj.bsky.social, @clogfather.bsky.social, @eltjov.bsky.social & Nick Skinner. We'll host three Market Garden games for the broader public. If you're in the vicinity we'd love if you'd stop by and maybe even roll a few dice

Weird how they put all their efforts into using technology to replace human creativity and art and then say creative arts degrees are useless.

Kampfgruppe Arnhem, is nearly due to release.
The last 16 figures have been sculpted. So the release of this 'Hickstarter' is just before the end of October.

Good practice game of Chain of Command for our demo @ the Airborne Museum in two weeks. Terrain needs a bit more work, but the scenario holds up well. Thanks to @clogfather.bsky.social and @redandloud.bsky.social for the fun! #spreathelard

Tickets are still available for Steel Lard, Saturday 10th October 2025. The venue is Patriot Games, Sheffield. It makes for an attractive weekend with Partizan 2 on over in Newark just over an hours drive away. Reply to me and I’ll pass you down the line to Richard.

Arriving through the door today WSS 137 with a scenario I’ve written based around Antony’s retreat from Parthia. The theme is around rearguards and fighting retreats.

Delighted at the library today when a little girl, with dad in hand, turned up looking for the tabletop wargaming club or the club “where they paint little men” and directing her to their workspace. Wish I could have seen the faces of the usual crowd as she challenged their age/gender demographic.

An interesting introduction by @clogfather.bsky.social to Stephen Jones' Bloodybacks rules for AWI battles. Hard to see how the Brits could extricate themselves from Concord Bridge paintingshed.blogspot.com/p/bloodyback...

And that's a wrap! The @ancientwarfare.bsky.social podcast panel (incl @clogfather.bsky.social and @lindsaypowell.bsky.social) discussed the battles they would personally like to witness if they could go back in time. Look for that soon. Produced by The History Network. #AncientBluesky

Sounds quite involved! Still, always easier than painting a unit from nothing, and these have History

That must be a very satisfying exercise. Just touching up, rebasing, stuff like that?

This #Roman pugio (dagger) decorated with inlays (silver and brass) was discovered in 2019 in Crap Ses, Switzerland with other military equipment. So far, only four examples of this type are known. Dating 2nd half of the 1st c. BC.

A dagger shown in two views, full and close-up. The corroded blade is wide and tapers to a worn point. The hilt features decorative inlays of silver ivy leave shapes running down its center, with a crossguard decorated by a faint repeating Greek key-pattern design. The dagger’s surface is rough due to his age but its ornate details remain visible.
