Britain has talked itself into a flat tailspin. Had weeks of ppl telling me that the country's on the verge of catastrophe. In reality real wages are rising and the economy growing. God alone knows what ppl would say if we went back to the early 80s, 17% interest rates and four million unemployed.

Almost nobody in the Cons Party or beyond it had noticed that the Shadow Home Secretary with two other frontbenchers and 5 backbenchers tabled a bill in May to deport 3 million people - stripping almost every pensioner, parent or nurse who did not take out citizenship of their right to live here

UPDATE: it's been over a week since I was prevented from boarding a flight home. My MP is on the case. My immigration lawyer is on the case. Still no answers. Still in limbo. I'm feeling pretty dejected. Apparently obtaining citizenship still does not safeguard one against these scenarios.
I'm currently in immigration exile, see below.

Since I'm stateside, I'll be talking to the Morbidly Curious Book Club tonight at 7 pm EST about Victorian surgery and my first book, The Butchering Art. Please come and distract me with your questions. Link below 👇

Henley & Partners’ wealth migration reports have been reported all over the world, both to prove both that there's a massive exodus of wealth from the UK and that there isn't.

Our forensic review finds the data riddled with anomalies - and in key places looks fabricated:

David Lammy must realise that we’re past the point of threatening sanctions.

Every day the Government sits on its hands, more innocent civilians are being killed in Gaza while over a million are at risk of starvation.

Sanctions are needed now, including against Netanyahu.

When I was little, the U.S. military came to our home at gunpoint and took me and my family away. We were imprisoned for years in barbed wire camps simply because we were Japanese American. I have spent my life telling that story, hoping it would never be repeated.

Wimbledon's ambitions to expand are being tested in the High Court. The legal arguments are a proxy-fight. The real battle is over visions of the contest: a leading player in the global sports market, or remaining merely 'tennis in an English garden'."

The main divide in politics isn’t “open vs closed” it is “do you accept that old people actually exist, and cost more?” versus “do you believe that old people don’t exist, or the fact they cost more is somehow unfair or can be wished away?”
Yeah unfortunately that’s nonsense. The main problems in politics right now are driven by the aging of the population which means public services get more expensive just as there are fewer people to fund them.

It's a mark of what's gone wrong with British politics that it's regarded as some kind of career-ending humiliation when a govt has to make concessions to Members of Parliament.

We'd be much better governed if MPs found their backbones more often, & govts routinely had to respond to their concerns.
