New folks following me from starter packs, hi! Unfollow if you find me boring. I’m a chronically ill middled-aged grad student & artist in Edmonton. I’m not famous & I’m not especially funny. I don’t have a newsletter but I might post about sickness, vegan snacks, prog rock, or performance art.

Basenotes has amazing perfume databases and reviews and message boards without the MAGA baggage.

And folks wonder why so many of us are so opposed to the furious, poorly thought-out rush to incorporate this technology into every nook & cranny of academic & policy research as quickly as possible.

And here we go. I never wrote this article, and yet it is cited here.

And of course, it sounds so plausible, I seriously checked whether I had forgotten it, or the footnote was slightly wrong.

Also general lack of seating where it would be possible to have more.
And much outdoor seating is a de facto smoker’s area.

Same here, especially as autocorrect goes further off the rails.
compulsiveobserver.bsky.social
Autocorrect is tormenting me. This should read bigotry, not bio gotta.
compulsiveobserver.bsky.social
Thé most toxic things I see on the regular are a) Palestinians having their accounts banned and b) marginalized folks either describing bio gotta they receive or pushing back on said bigotry getting banned. This app seems especially punitive to trans folks and Black people.
compulsiveobserver.bsky.social
Toxic might be putting it mildly.

Hear ye hear ye a message of hope and inspiration from our courageous leader in exile, Link. May all his loyal followers take heart!
I appreciate all the people showing love and support to me. I’m so grateful honestly. It means a lot. The ban isn’t that big of a deal for me. I think it was wrong and the explanation was bullshit. But that’s ok and I accept. Social media comes and goes. I’m grateful for all the connections I was able to make and all the people I get to be connected with off Bluesky. More importantly, the world needs more people to give a fuck. More people to give a fuck about Palestinians, more people to give a fuck about disabled folks, more people to give a fuck about our queer and trans siblings, more people to give a fuck about Black liberation. The world, and Bluesky, is full of bootlickers who will do anything to avoid doing anything to upset the status quo. These people are cowards groveling to those in power in hopes of protection. I just hope people continue to show love and care and kindness. Mutual aid is so important. Give when you can, boost when you can. We only survive this together.

DePaul University Research is conducting an online survey focused on PEM (Post-Exertional Malaise). Patients who experience PEM, as well as members of the general population, are invited to take part. The survey takes about 10-15 minutes to complete.

Its beyond disappointing that no one in Alberta politics can see anything other than oil. As a transplant, its been shocking and alienating.

ALBERTA: Come out and support public school teachers today in Edmonton, Calgary, and Lethbridge!

Free, universal public education is a cornerstone of Canadian society. Don't let Danielle Smith ruin it. Teachers are fighting for it right now, and deserve your support.

A friend referred to our jobs in Edmonton as great experience that will give us a leg up to re-apply in Montreal when more folks retire. My partner is tenure track, and we are both pushing 50. Plus the labour, logistics, and expenses to move across the country were huge. Just no.

One first step people should do to respond to this is start using the “report a speed trap” function in Apple Maps to report where ICE is operating. Make Apple party to the attempt to protect people.

Yeah, it’s hard not to miss it.
I love the different neighborhoods’ vibes. And yes, great people! I bumped into two dear friends totally at random.
We’ll be back for an exhibition in January and I’m glad we won’t need car then because we’ll be in the city and there is nothing to schlep.

It’s out of the control and we are not helped by the fact the only rental car we could get is a *giant* SUV.
