Let's invite curiosity into our daily routine.

How?

Ask questions.
Explore a new idea.
Drive a different way to work.
Be present in a moment.
Catch a thought on the back of an envelope.
Read something different.
Listen deeply.

This is where the magic happens.....

Movie soundtracks, video game soundtracks, classical music, heavy metal, early 2000s pop/punk/alt hits that I know by heart, folk music, Enya, …

I guess it would be a shorter list to put what I DON’T listen to…

Country music, Techno, and Gregorian Chants. 😜
A question to writers.

What do you guys listen to while writing?

I can’t listen to anything with lyrics in it so I listen to classical music and contemporary compositions.

#writingcommunity how do you all go about keeping unique character voice with characters who code switch depending on who they’re talking to? Is it just have them always emphasize the same values and grand desires across contexts or do you do something more?

Planning on engaging in orange cat behavior today, no I won’t explain. You are however all welcome to join me.

Who else loves snow season? I can’t wait! I hope I get absolutely buried this year so I have an excuse to stay in, bake and write. 😊

Fiction writer friends, what’s your least favorite thing to write? I’m diving back into writing & feeling more than a little rusty. Dialogue is proving particularly challenging atm. Might need to sit somewhere public & practice recording the conversations I hear to get back into the swing of it.

This entire thread is full of amazing writer tips. Saving this for reminders when I’m struggling in the trenches.
if u see this, quote-post with your tips for writers that no one gives anymore because they seem obvious (even though they're not)

Eatha Kitt dropped some wisdom on my drive to work this morning, I'm paraphrasing here.

Problems are something we create. Life is to be lived...

I swear I need this tattooed on my hands as a daily reminder.
The most important thing in writing is to finish. A finished thing can be fixed. A finished thing can be published. A finished thing can be made into a movie.

An unfinished thing is just a dream. And dreams fade if you don't hold on tight enough.

So finish the thing.

Do you think Ariel ate the scallops whose shells she wears as a bra or that they’re still in there and that’s how they’re suctioned to her boobs?

Boss: I meant any questions about the presentation.

Happy birthday to this weird little book. Dead Girls is the first novel I ever fully drafted, the book that came close to breaking me in revisions, and is now coming out at the end of a very strange year.
