Republican style is part of a performative rebellion. Not against the ruling class, but the elites that police tone and taste. Which is to say legacy media, academics, and coastal cosmopolitans who talk about "political correctness." There is a lot of culture war; little policy to help working ppl.

Speaking as an expert on transphobia and the gender critical movement:

Block them. Hide replies. Report them. Do not "debate" them.

The fact that they are campaigning so hard against blocking and in favour of debate/their right to harassment should tell you - it serves their interests to engage.

Yep. This also explains the bizarre focus on linguistic changes.

A wealthy, middle-aged political pundit cannot imagine being forced to move states to access HRT but he can imagine someone scolding him about misusing they/them pronouns. It's anxiety and animosity all the way down.
this gets to the point i keep making. to the media elites who are obsessed with anti-wokeness, something like mass deportation is a total abstraction whereas they are annoyed, on a daily basis, by their supposedly “woke” younger colleagues and social media antagonists
Top point from @stephenkb.bsky.social on the weighting voters give to "woke" v real issues.

Democrats lost while doing everything the left was begging them not to do, and now most of them have concluded that this means that it was a mistake to listen to the people they ignored and to run the campaign they didn't run, and must now pivot to doing more of exactly what they did when they lost.

If anyone mentions how popular mass deportations are, please realize that Republicans only proposed it after Biden started pushing for a Trump-first-term style immigration law.

Republicans took a concession and immediately lurched further to the right, as they always do.

I've been here nearly since the beginning and I've been slow to really wade into it for a bunch of reasons, but as Bluesky grows and gets closer to circa-2012 Twitter in vibes, I think its lack of "purpose" actually IS its identity. No one here wants a social media platform with an agenda

LGBTQ people are 10% of the population and went for Harris by a 70% margin. you'd be sacrificing a lot of votes to abandon that part of your base. the math ain't mathin' on this political gambit the centrists are trying to cook up.

What I find so funny about these people is that they won and it’s not enough for them. They’re in power, they control the fate of everything in the country, they took over Twitter. And yet, they can’t help but go searching for the same people that they dislike so much.

manning a free mask table tonite— masks recommended but not required show for an artist who hasn’t performed since they got sick in 2021— & matching with the outfit was, in fact, a dealbreaker for a gal. wouldn’t take a mask unless it matched. alas, aesthetic matters whether we wish it did or not.

Block lists are great, but now that this app is getting crowded you have to be extra careful. Before joining a block-list, make sure that it's from a trusted source.

I strongly recommend looking at the list before subscribing to it.
