I ain't couth but I've got cachet.

Playing drums and making music again.

Listening to Sirius XMU, Soma.fm Indie Pop Rocks, and Hearts of Space.

Mountain biking my way to a torn meniscus or a concussion.
After being reminded of the show Little Britain, and how funny it was, I put some effort into finding some episodes. Holy cow. It's hard to watch. I hate to use the language "woke," but damn.. it's hard to believe how unwoke 20 years ago was. (or at least I was)

I don't want to infer that putting a word in a song will make it a hit.. all the other things to go through, but I'm still gobsmacked that that Noah Kahan track is back in rotation because "I'll drink alcohol till my friends come home for Christmas"

I was sitting here screwing around with sora ai, and then realized that this is basically what the @greatdismal.bsky.social book Pattern Recognition was about.. except the future has been distributed evenly this time.. and everyone having this really makes it suck.

I've always enjoyed when songs name-drop locations. Especially if I have some connection to the location. I just heard this one on XMU a second ago..

"I left my wallet in El Segundo
I left my true love in a West Lafayette escape room"

"710+ years of UX design experience with strong end-to-end product thinking and a portfolio demonstrating interaction design, systems thinking, and leadership."

I assume they meant 7-10, but still a funny thing to see first thing in the morning.

The whole "music as background noise" thing gives me a really different perspective on the Jay Haynes book's JTBD example of the ipod "creating a mood with music." In a time where music is only for creating moods, anything more complicated becomes art.. And I guess it always was?

Is the shoegaze revival thing still happening? I just remembered this band, a spinoff of Superdrag, who were a little ahead of the curve with it. theleesofmemory.bandcamp.com/album/sisyph...

Annoyed that I can't search the web for IA or anything with the word "prompt" in it without getting pages of AI BS. Even using quotes in the query.

I really think it's time for an alternate, more governed internet without marketing.

Chart showing the total number of jobs posted to HN's "Who is hiring? posts. There's a COVID effect, with a dip at the beginning and then a slight bump but after July of 2022 the numbers are *dismal*, about 1/3 what they were before COVID. January 2025 was the worst month ever since 2018.

Lorde's Royals has been creeping back into rotation on some of the stations I listen to. I think it's bc of her tour, but it's a pretty good early-fall song. And still maybe one of the most unique pop songs I can remember.

I wonder what's going on with Southwest. I had a flight booked, and got a cancellation notice this morning with no reason. When I tried to call them, it said there was a 2-3 hour wait. I got through directly just a couple of days ago, so I assume lots of people are having problems.
