Hey, folks in the states that kept praising him for his asinine anti-tariff ads?

Stop enabling and whitewashing our fascist just because he picks fights with your fascist for political points.

Ford's warning came after members of the tenant advocacy group ACORN interrupted the legislature to protest a controversial omnibus bill that shortens some eviction timelines.

Look, I've historically been hesitant to call out bots, but I am just saying it is Very Weird that apparently there are so many people on Tiktok specifically posting the same bland comments ad nauseum about how much they love Bill 60. Are there even that many landlords in Ontario? On Tiktok?!

Can we just pause and note how surreal and deeply funny it is that Carney, of all figures, has a personality cult? Like I know how it happened, but still.
Would hate to attract the ire of it, but it is truly weird how even the mildest critique/observation gets this reaction online.
So glad my concern about misogyny helped me make this dude’s morning “bitch”

Partisanship rots brains, folks.

Just because you like a political party doesn’t mean its members and leaders are beyond criticism!

Bold when Ontario has lost tens of thousands of jobs due to this asshat, such as the 10k jobs lost in Ontario college layoffs directly due to this government's policies.

Sorry to say that in the landscape of "where do I run to?" questions trans Americans ask, going to have to reply now with "Don't come here, we are forsaken" re: Ontario. Canada in general, really. We're on a rapid backslide with public services getting stripped while becoming completely unlivable.

Conservative premiers have made it unavoidable now that the notwithstanding clause is a serious weakness of the constitution that needs to be confronted, otherwise we resign ourselves to continue living in petty provincial dictatorships.
The notwithstanding clause allows a province to make laws overriding parts of the charter of rights for five years.

The Assembly of First Nations expressed concerns over Alberta’s use of the clause to limit the rights of two-spirit and trans youth.

As part of his bold new vision for Canada, Avi Lewis, the progressive vying to lead the New Democratic Party, has proposed a series of "public options" for everything from groceries to telecoms to banking to address the nation's cost-of-living crisis.
NDP Candidate Avi Lewis Calls for 'Public Options' to Fight High Costs of Groceries, Housing, and Telecoms in Canada
“When people are being gouged at the checkout aisle, on their phone bills, and in their rents, it’s clear that the market is failing,” Lewis said.

There are more people organizing and pushing back against the regime today than there were in the first term. There are more people in more places (rural towns and big cities across the country). I think it's really strange how resistant some people are to these facts. I wonder what's going on.

This is just one part of the cascade of shit that went down. Over the past week Ontario has undergone an unprecedented blitzkrieg of legislation, including opening water & schools to privatization, stripped renter protections, and dozens of other petty con projects. Province will never be the same.
A bad day for Canada, and therefore the world.

Ontario (population 16 million, 40% of the country) has passed new legislation prohibiting bike lanes that take a lane from cars.

An escalation from Bill 212, which required municipalities to get approval.
A sad day for cyclists. Bill 60 - which prohibits the conversion of motor vehicle lanes to bike lanes (or any other prescribed purpose) - has passed Third Reading this morning which will kill various cycling projects in Toronto & across Ontario. #shame #BikeTO #BikeSky #TOpoli #ONpoli #VisionZero

Quebec Premier Legault says EVERY bill will use the Notwithstanding Clause, unless otherwise specified.

Says, Quebec needs its own Charter of Rights, not that silly one the rest of Canada follows.

Ok, the real story here is even more evidence that everyone in the capitalist class truly is thoroughly brain rotted and shouldn't be in charge of anything

Sorry it's paywalled, but need to yell about how this article misses that this is gender affirming care. GAC in this province is a mess. People seeking GAC overall have been slowly pushed into private clinics for years, whether cis or trans. This is the red flag for care privatizing in Ontario.
These Ontario surgeons are so fed up with OHIP’s billing system that they’ve opened up a private practice
Hamilton surgeons who reconstruct breasts after mastectomies have fought for years over a billing code for their technique. They still get rejections.

It’s widely known (and, I think, pretty uncontroversial) that learning requires effort — specifically, if you don’t have to work at getting the knowledge, it won’t stick.

Even if an LLM could be trusted to give you correct information 100% of the time, it would be an inferior method of learning it.
Relying on ChatGPT to teach you about a topic leaves you with shallower knowledge than Googling and reading about it, according to new research that compared what more than 10,000 people knew after using one method or the other.

I find it morbidly amusing that so many people were surprised by the Mamdani Trump meeting. I wasn't because we had years of Trump fawning over Trudeau. It got memory holed after COVID/trucker rally/51st comments, but this weird dynamic was all over Canadian politics for a long while.

People will seek answers. If a system doesn't provide them with one, such as providing people giving birth autonomy, comfort, and safety in a hospital, they'll go elsewhere. We have to attend to social problems or a grifter will.
Really rough read. And another example of how granola right-wing grifters play on real societal issues to garner following.

There is real misogyny in healthcare. Birth trauma is a very real phenomenon that is not taken seriously enough. And these people used that to make millions. And kill babies.
Influencers made millions pushing ‘wild’ births – now the Free Birth Society is linked to baby deaths around the world www.theguardian.com/world/ng-int...
