Ok I also get people's responses here, but there has been push against Mars Sample Return from inside the space science community for a while. It is a mission that has long had lots of problems.
Scientists get giddy thinking about what they could do with Perseverance's rocks on Earth. But a new Congressional funding package effectively cancels the missions that would bring them here

I wouldn't hold your breath that the honorable US military (/s) will be coming to anyone's rescue
Just a reminder that ALL members of the military and the Secret Service PLEDGE LOYALTY TO THE CONSTITUTION, not a person, to "support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic".

I get people's knee jerk response of "just don't go to the US" but like, a lot of people have to travel for work, so "just don't" is not helpful advice while the article or alternative resources can be.

It probably just means position but I like the idea of this somehow having some magic sensor able to determine the emotional attitude of anyone around it
