the strongest case for socializing the ownership of capital is that the current owners of capital are idiots
Business leaders all across America are freaking out that Trump's tariffs will kneecap their firms.

“There’s an overriding sense of helplessness” among executives. “CEOs are feeling stunned, and they’re not used to feeling like they don’t have good moves.”

Among the material devastation to everyday people, Senate Dems have now blown a hole in their ability to work with the House.

We had an agreed upon plan, House took immense risk, then Senate turned around midway and destroyed it w/ a fear-based, inexplicable abdication.

They own what happens next.

Dear Democratic Party: why are you not screaming this from every rooftop? Why are you not holding press conferences with these poor fired people - putting a face on what the richest man is destroying?
“The thing that I can’t get over is that the actual richest man in the world directed my fucking firing. I make $50k a year and work to keep drinking water safe. The richest man in the world decided that was an expense too great for the American taxpayer.”

incredible the mental gymnastics folks will do to justify cowardice
Consider the possibility that the Trump White House WANTS this fight. Wants journalists to act like opponents instead of observers. If the entire press pool skipped a Trump photo op in solidarity with The AP, wouldn't the White House welcome Breitbart and One America News to take their places?
And, are you or your colleagues boycotting covering the WH as a protest?

Only thing I'd add is, you dig far enough into *any* reactionary and you find this mewling, whiny, unselfaware victim complex. It's part of the psychological package -- soy all the way down.
