I heard someone say said “it may be easier to get a passport first, and use that to get your real ID”. When a passport is the easier option, something’s gone very wrong
Real IDs such a pain in the ass to get, there’s a whole genre of memes about it. Gotta bring your first born child to the DMV plus 15 other official documents… they’re doing blatant racial profiling on US citizens and they don’t care.
Trump's domestic Gestapo raided a job site, then handcuffed a US citizen born in Raleigh NC -- even after being shown the guy's REAL ID, which is only available to US citizens and LPRs

CBP+ICE will ignore your identifying documents when it suits their racism

I was just looking at AOL’s ownership history, and it seems impossible now that AOL bought Time Warner and not the other way around

The only thing I regret about not using Twitter anymore is not being followed by @barackobama.bsky.social and @npr.org. I won’t rest until I am followed on blue sky by a former president and a public broadcasting network.

One of the tragedies of our modern age is that there are only two podcasts with @notalawyer.bsky.social and someone named Michael being mean to people.

Happy Pythagorean triple square day to all who celebrate

Pythagorean Triple Square Day, as one man affectionately calls 9/16/25, is a day like no other this century.
On 9/16/25, celebrate a date of mathematical beauty

“Just give money to people who need it” shouldn’t be a controversial idea, but Philly has been testing it out and it’s making a big difference:

Researchers anticipated their findings would show that cash assistance helped tenants, but "we were surprised by the magnitude of the effects" #giftlink
Philly’s first-in-the-nation experiment giving cash to struggling renters is working, researchers say
Families that got cash rental assistance were less likely to be evicted, experience homelessness, and report having serious problems with their homes, according to a study of the PHLHousing+ program.

My child is such a huge eagles fan from going to elementary school in Philadelphia
I have some serious misgivings about the things* my child is being taught in public school.

This a surprisingly thorough history of the smokiest bar in Philadelphia #giftlink
With McGlinchey’s impending closure, Center City marks the end of an era — or several, really
In McGlinchey's heyday, the dive bar was packed every night with customers clamoring for 80-cent Rolling Rocks and 25-cent hot dogs. Former staffers reflect its legacy as last call looms.
