It’s the “season of love and giving”…but this year, doesn’t it seem more like a “season of fear and taking”? Like many of you, I’ve been saddened by the human impact of draconian government budget cuts and how angry many housed Americans are at unhoused Americans.

“The saddest thing about betrayal is that it never comes from your enemies.”

On November 18th, 2014, at the Toronto Maple Leafs vs Nashville Predators hockey game, the mic cut out partway through the American anthem….the Canadian fans picked it up from there.

Not this again. Let’s just speed run to the end of this debate: Bike licenses would cost more to administer than they would bring in, costing the state money while also discouraging a healthy and low-cost way for folks to get around. It would also hurt local bike shops, which are already struggling.
So I'm hearing that the Washington Senate's draft transportation budget, due to be released Monday, includes some highly questionable new revenue sources, including a bicycle license fee along with removal of the exemption for public transit vehicles from state car tab fees.
