Using genAI for concept art is so fucking stupid because like... that's where you get the cool shit. Thats the blue sky phase where artists make pieces of art that will be seen by a teenager later and change their life forever. Why would you want to start from mediocre. Why would you do that.

i get the sense that ppl who are super into AI think that AI skeptics are only against it for moral reasons, which is part of it (and is also true for me). but another issue i have with it is that it is actually bad at what it is supposed to do, with no way to improve (look up "AI plateau" for info)
just to see what would happen i asked gemini AI to write something in my writing voice (goodness knows there is plenty of it online to check against) and it was absolutely nothing like me at all. idk if this is comforting per se but it was very funny to me

Larian using gen AI to "flesh out ideas" after stringing me along in the application process for 6 months w great feedback only to tell me the -length- of my scenes didn't fit their style is like them putting a loaded gun in my mouth.

I feel insane seeing this. So much joy in my life has come from personal connection with other people who are sicko mode about the same characters and relationships. why would you want to just outsource that to a plagiarism machine that can never be a sicko??
