UNLAWFUL ARREST

This woman was arrested for holding a sign with “I do not support the proscription of Palestine Action” on it, a totally lawful statement to make, even under the Labour government’s absurd new laws proscribing the direct action group.

If I'm reading the data correctly it suggests 5% of reform voters think yes they are racist (and proud presumably).

And 20% of that group seem to think the party and policies are not racist enough.

Is that fair @yougov.co.uk (not checked the sample size, maybe just a couple of cranks)
yougov.co.uk
Unsurprisingly, the overwhelming majority of Reform UK voters (87-90%) reject the idea that they or their party are racist, as do most Tory voters

Labour, Lib Dem and Green voters disagree, branding Reform UK, its policies, and its voters as "generally racist"

I'm pleased to have been appointed @libdems.org.uk Transport Spokesperson.

Transport should be an enabler of a thriving economy, social mobility, and preventing climate change, and I will campaign for affordable and reliable public transport, walking and cycling, and roads that work for all.

5 years ago, the Government consulted on how dangerous pavement parking could be tackled in England. The Government has yet to respond.

If pavement parking is a problem in your area – fill out the form and add to the map of danger hotspots across the UK.

The government is bringing rail into public ownership after 30 years of failed privatisation

To make this succeed they must

🚄set up Great British Trains
🚄stop wasteful competition
🚄create a national railcard
🚄give passengers a real say
🚄INVEST like Switzerland does

The government's upcoming Railways Bill should include these reforms if it is serious about delivering for passengers.

Interesting, it's definitely got a massive choice at the moment, and always a fan of Big Dave's quiz, but the Sussex Best has been vinegar the last few times I've tried it. Keep having to go to backup lagers for safety.

Not this weekend, but Oxford Wood Recycling have a course coming up in a few weeks about making a picture frame. The last one was very good, and they're a nice organisation to support.

I recently spoke in Parliament about the impact of pavement parking—a concern I hear often from constituents with disabilities, sight loss or mobility aids.
It makes everyday journeys harder and more dangerous. Councils need proper powers to act.
Everyone deserves safe, accessible streets

British NIMBYism is truly a sight to behold.

“We are rejecting this solar farm, because one time I saw an electric vehicle on fire, which reminded me that decades ago a coal mining disaster killed lots of children”.

A solar farm that could have powered “all the households in Witney” has been refused permission by West Oxfordshire District Council. Councillors were concerned about the risk of fire, one drawing parallels to the 1966 Aberfan disaster: “Until someone can guarantee it is safe, I can’t support it.”

Given the massive costs of infra, I often wonder if there's an argument to create a cheap right of way with a cleared dirt/gravel path for rural routes just so there is something on a reasonable timescale. Is that silly? Perhaps costs are more in the mobilisation and admin, and surface is moot?

The last government ran a consultation on pavement parking in 2020. Nearly five years on, a new government still refuses to publish the responses!

Write to Anneliese Dodds and Layla Moran asking them to sign this parliamentary motion calling for action:

It's disappointing that the government's plan to get people moving is focused around "Go for a jog" rather than, as the evidence suggests, building environments that encourage everyday incidental exercise: the ability to walk to amenities
