LLMs arrive at wrong answers faster than having to watch a 20 minute YouTube video for the same wrong answers.

so you probably already have achieved this with your extension ;•) i was more despairing for ppl who are like "i need force myself to not read ai overview on accident"; i want them to know they dont ever need it on their screen while doing web searches haha

obv this doesnt fix the problems of "search is ruined by decades of seo and most articles are ai garbage now and the internet is dead", just makes it so theres no ai overview, and in udm14 case its just a list of links like search used to be back in the day

> (and then i need to turn them back off)
i use both of those, have search shortcuts set up my browser etc
December 27, 2025 at 9:21 PM
dont know any of those, i main a firefox fork, but you can add udm14.com as your default search (or simply google's 'web' mode, which udm14 is a shortcut? wrapper? or duckduckgo with all the ai features turned off (they switch back on for me from time to time)

"they will be, one day"

no, they won't, any more than tires can help you fly. They're not built for that. They're a fundamentally different technology. An LLM does not exist to model conscious thought, it exists to take advantage of your willingness to see faces in things that aren't there.

lol i realized that normalized.css wouldnt do anything (??) if i put it below other stuff bc it uses 0 specificity selectors, anyway

need to investigate why svgs break in this scenario; why whatever is in their elements' tags gets overridden by a style tag at the top of the document. anyway, thats for later…
December 17, 2025 at 11:56 PM
okay, this is far from a working solution. testing without old-browser-css at the top for now: "initial" broke everything; with "revert" everything looks normal… except… element attribute styles for a path in svg get reverted too. svgs are mysterious to me, why a <style> tag is higher than element
