The Roches in flight on SNL 1979. They made a lot of new fans that night. Whenever I put together an Xmas mix, this has to be the leadoff track, every time.

this will be happening more & more, and the scariest aspect of this one for me is *you can't google it.* Google has suppressed all content of how its AI defamed this guy. So AI can hallucinate a crime or make up evidence or citations & then hide its tracks. Soon it will go after AI's critics.
I would love to see Ashley McIsaac drag Google through defamation court hell for this. AI lies all.the.time.

ok NPR's tv critic singles out Adolescence as great 2025 tv. I hated hated hated that show. Nothing about it rang true. It was a tortured morality tale & hand-wringing about kids these days disguised as gritty realism.

I thought deepfake evidence in court was years away but it's already happened. a judge found that a party to a legal dispute submitted AI-generated video evidence.

I hope my fellow travelers understand that AI itself will soon target its critics. From slander to being put on a Waymo run-over list.

It's true that this is wild to watch. DOJ's social account — and, likely, DOJ — is being run no differently than an online-sleuthing account. (Or, more accurately, an online grift account cannibalizing others' online-sleuthing.)
this is insane to me. the doj had forever to look into this. now they're like liveblogging on x like they have no more information than a random person on social media

this is so disgusting. each paragraph more disgusting than the last.

The actor Michael Sheen used all his money to start a fake debt collecting business, buy 900 people in Wales's debt, and excused it. If Musk bought ALL $194 billion in medical debt in the U.S. and excused it in the same way, he'd still be the world's riches man by hundreds of billions of dollars.

listening to a 4 hour police interview of a teen who bludgeoned his parents to death as they slept. so far his alibi is he got his hair dyed at the mall & did some drugs.

I keep thinking, with increasing anger, about the first suspect, the one they detained whose name was leaked. Last night the AG of Rhode Island threw him under the bus again & ran over him for good measure. he was "a good suspect," in part because "initially he was not cooperative."

aside from the trolls & jeering, sneering vibe, twitter's UX has become a minefield. the app (which creepily self-updated despite my never updated from twitter & having auto-updates disabled) keeps trying to trick me into downloading grok. darkpattern: all roads lead to grok. desktop navigation same

law enforcement needs to level up their multimedia presentation skills. this 12-minute youtuber's presentation of the path of the Brown shooter gave me more information than all the press conferences & lame maps officials put out. there are 2 guys & they are running.

the communication strategy around the Brown shooting is reminding me of the Malaysia Airlines MH370 press conferences. rugby scrum. the police appear to have made the same mistake as the Moscow police in the Idaho student murders. Get the video footage from the surrounding area immediately.

does anyone think the Brown shooting was possibly a retaliation for charlie kirk? the m.o. has a symmetry. the way the guy walked there & away, a sense of outsider ambush, and the possibility brown is seen as one of the "woke" incubators.

I am a buy very little person, but I have a weakness for scarves & managed to buy 3 from ebay last night & this morning. I like them super-large & drapey. I got a light gray with dark gray abstract floral, a cream with dark olive border & yellow & pink abstract floral, & a sheer pink floral.

law enforcement should be more careful about naming suspects. now 2 guys with the same name have been put thru the meat grinder for no reason

I told my neighbor in the elevator that I was having nightmares about ICE & she said, "but you're native american, right?" I was thrown, thinking, wow, why would she say that? do I look native american?" & I said, "no, I'm not native american." a few minutes later i realized the miscommunication.

Flew through this book last night in one sitting. It's a collection of German people's dreams during the rise of Hitler in the 30s, collected by a Jewish communist journalist who fled the country in 1939.

I wrote to Amazon demanding answers and a pause on Ring’s facial recognition rollout—and now I’m releasing Amazon’s response. The takeaway? Consent isn’t their problem and widespread surveillance is here to stay.

Unacceptable.
