ProPublica has the search warrant for Fulton County elections warehouse. looks to me like Kash Patel trying to keep his job & curry favor while others are in the hot seat. Trump % MAGA have wanted this forever.

🚨BREAKING: Hours after federal immigration officers shot and killed a man in Minneapolis, Pam Bondi seized upon the incident to demand access to voter rolls, directly tying the Trump administration’s quest for voters’ unredacted personal data to its aggressive immigration raids across the state.
AG Bondi demands access to Minnesota voter rolls after fatal Border Patrol shooting
Her demand came as Minneapolis was reeling from a second fatal shooting by a federal agent this month.

I watch a lot of murder trials and police interrogations. The sort of exhaustive, expensive investigations & granular, vigorous prosecutions & defense lawyering we see for civilians are never the case for deaths at the hands of law enforcement. the asymmetry makes it feel like justice is just a show

Incredible work
If you're interested in seeing how framing contests are taking shape after the ICE killing of another person in Minneapolis, here's a window into the conversation on X this morning.

right. that same sequence happens in a lot of police shootings. someone shouts "gun!" & everyone starts shooting, often each other. I also wonder if these agents have trained together, ever. different agencies have different communication styles. a lot of mistakes happen with combined "task forces"
You can hear “gun” shortly after the agent starts to search Alex’s waist. I’m thinking the murdering agent shot Alex in response to that.

As JD Vance starts trying to play "nice Gestapo" to Steven Miller's "mean Gestapo," it's worth emphasizing that what's happening in Minnesota is a direct descendant of Vance's knowingly false racist demagoguery during the campaign. "Somalis are low-IQ thieves" is "Haitians are eating your pets."

One of the problems with running bullshit from intellectual lightweights pretending to be Very Serious People or false binary takes, is that when you do run important pieces, it gets drowned out by the flood of that bullshit.

This Oct ‘24 NYT headline laid out exactly what would happen.

“Prices will be lower when you’re dead” is not quite the selling point elected Dems think it is
Why is Dem leadership not on the ground in MN? If the answer is “polls show Trump’s disapproval is only -15 on deportations, but -25 on prices,” thats a Bad Use Of Polling and a complete failure in their capacity as leaders to lead public opinion and fight for democracy and the rule of law

Memory is a fragile thing in this moment, so it is important to keep in mind that Hakeem Jeffries refused to whip his caucus against ICE funding earlier this week.

I wouldn't be surprised if they start using these lists to put people on the no-fly lists, audits by the IRS, etc. as retribution. Once a government starts making lists of its citizens like this, the abuses will inevitably follow.

I know people keep saying this but it’s hard to communicate the depth of active resistance here. Like, I’m on random cafes and people are checking in for observation shifts. Signs everywhere. Folks in visibility vests on the corners. It’s wild. Absolutely wild.
