I've seen and heard statements each to the effect of "we should look above the victims and at the politicking going on, especially at Bannon". Which in reifying Bannon's political project above the patriarchal violence, seen as 'bourgeois degeneracy', fails to recognize the continuity between them.

All these awful things and people are interlinked, and they are interlinked because of systemic forces like patriarchy, colonialism and capitalism which, yes, support genocidal states like Israel but it's so much more than that and please do not miss the forest for the trees on this.

I think the fact it is being used as one is a mechanism by which the whole thing can be defused without any actual consequences to the abusers.
