Yeah for people not up to date on the back story, the conservative war on "Gender Ideology" actually started as a response to Gender Theory, and specifically the impact of Judith Butler's "Gender Trouble" at the United Nations summit for women in 1995.

I enjoyed reading this. Weaves mysticism, history, politics together into a tapestry that unravels the positionality of transness and madness in society. That awareness of the difficult liminal space between spirituality and madness is itself something I quite resonate with.

We, the Women of Kurdistan (Rojhelat), strongly condemn the massacre and brutal suppression of the protests of Dey 1404, particularly the violent repression of the defenseless people of llam and Kermanshah. These protests are a continuation of the "Jin, Jiyan, Azadi" movement, movement that centers social life, livelihoods, and the right to live with dignity, and that today continues in the streets and neighborhoods across Iran. What is unfolding in Iran is the result of violent and systematic policies aimed at preserving power: policies that treat peaceful protest as a threat and seek to silence the cry for life through bullets and imprisonment. Those who have taken to the streets in response to economic crisis and structural discrimination are neither "rioters" nor "security threats"; they are the bearers of the demands of the "Jin, Jiyan, Azadi" movement, the right to live with freedom, equality, and human dignity. The Jina movement taught us that freedom arises from collective will, and that to halt the cycle of repression, society must be conscious, united, and organized. Women in Kurdistan were at the forefront of this movement, and the protests in llam, Kermanshah, and other cities of Kurdistan are a continuation of that same path. As women who have always stood on the front lines of the struggle against religious despotism, we know how this political structure targets bodies, lives, and voices, especially those of women, and how the suppression of protests is the continuation of a policy that began with gender discrimination, the exclusion of women from power, and the denial of equal participation, and has now culminated in street-level repression. We, the Women of Kurdistan reaffirm our unconditional solidarity with all those who courageously stand up for their rights, and we believe that the right to protest, to organize, and to self-determination are inalienable rights. We regard silence in the face of state violence as complicity. Every bullet fired and every arrest carried out is evidence of the rulers' fear of a conscious and united society. History shows that authoritarian regimes do not collapse easily, but neither can they survive through violence. Freedom, though costly, will be achieved through sustained and resolute struggle, because it is rooted in the collective will of a people no longer willing to remain silent or submit. A free and democratic future will emerge from conscious resistance, social solidarity, and the struggle for equality and justice.

Evin Prison, where he wrote this, was bombed by Israel recently.

We don't know how many people died because they didn't bother keeping accurate records. We do know that many of the victims were trans, because they were just shoving them all in there.

I have been genuinely inspired by the resilience and courage of Iranian anarchists in their resistance to the incredibly repressive Iranian regime.

Soheil Arabi wrote this during one of his many stints in prison; he's still incarcerated for being non-religious.

the more you believe sex is inherent + immutable (whether biologically i.e. "male"/"female" or temporally i.e. "amab"/"afab") rather than a relation someone is weighed against (you are judged by how you adhere or subvert Sex, i.e. things are Sexed) the more incorrect the theory & politics get

Reaching in a sideways motion I grab underneath, her fingers seize mine but seize further for she now realizes something of me. Concern spurts out of her, “your hand… It's cold, so very cold. Like…” I make an admission which finishes her comparison. She lingers parsing what I have said then she gets closer. Moving her hand up my arm, gliding up my sleeve. Her other hand is now doing the same. There is a great worry in her eyes. Nothing like Veronia’s. Phoebe's eyes lack her history nor the insight of dear Vivian's. Yet she appraises me up and down as though I were a hymn sheet. There is nothing for her to feel the warmth of but she tries anyway. “I’m sorry my queen” She pulls away hastily, “I’m.. sorry.” She is to feel my touch more intensely so such willingness to familiarize herself is favourable. “It is alright sister Phoebe. Those transgressions of yours are forgiven, If you allow me some of my own.” I brandish a smile and she gives me the look. That look. The one I do so love to cause in others. A slight panic in a flustered shade of red. Delicious. “Ah as, as you wish my lady” She stutters out. Not eloquent in this state of mind are you? “Turn around and disrobe yourself” I command. “May Lady! I, respectfully, taking this off takes as long as putting it on but… ah, as you wish” She proceeds. “Good girl” I affirm. (2nd accompanying paragraph, body of text, black against white) Deftly do her hands undo her early mornings work. First the black veil, pulling out a series of pins then rolling it off. Folding it onto this room’s other table. The white wimple comes off with the untying of its straps. Then the scapular, removed over a bow of her head. No hair falls down or pushes against its compression. Shaven, or was, to the skin but dark stubble grants it a familiar texture.“You are a practitioner of tonsure? I’m aware of Veronia’s dress code but not of tonsuring being done, a personal choice my dear?” I ask, following the stubble down to her visible neck. “Yes my lady, I prefer being without for practical and aesthetic reasons. Would have it done were I not a nun. By that regard it is representative of the contradictions we are dealing with. A pious act done for irreligious reasons.” Her words flow with her hands through the buttons of her tunic. I pause them for a moment with my own, “I understand the peculiarity you have all been placed within but my own experience has taught me the importance of rituals and practise. Those I do not forbid.” Those I do not perform for what use have I for such things when sand slips through hungry fingers. Her fingers fiddle the straps of her belt, “Wait” I halt her. “I want your back, not your backside.” A truth and, were I the mood, a very minor lie. “Are you able to reveal that to me without having to remove everything? I am conscious of time as you yourself no doubt are." She fiddles with front buttons again, “It can be done, yes”.

A room of fetid horizontals, crawling like sickly caterpillars folding into themselves. Scars mark them down their length, seeping with rank smells. Fluids rising, blood and pus condensing on the grimy ceiling. There’s… there’s something in them. Each of the walls. A thing, a body, rolls out from a wound. “Aaah!” My yell is as constrained within this dank room as I am to this slab of wrought fleshy iron. The death-birthed creature sloshes forth in a great mess of sticky effluence. Twitching in mangled voices. Another, another. Four laying a part in a unison of contorsion. Getting scrambled up with erratic motions. Stringless marionettes. The octave-colours they twirl like deranged dancers taking no break to part you from their ranks. Their hands, sharp metallic blades etched in rust and runes. Old and ancient. Faces of blank silver, dresses of striated absences; flesh partitioning into white chunks stitching together with horrid tentacles? Pipes? “Stay away!” I scream forth an unrecognised authority. These puppets grab you. Me. They rise down on the flesh that makes those colours true. Ripping the flesh into ribbons around them. Spinning my body like spiders with their web. “No! This flesh is mine! I carved it!” (whites words 'alt text continued' against black) “Stop! Stop!” “Hey! Hey, shh its okay your majesty, just a nightmare." hm? Why does such a voice jilt the dancers, “Your flesh is certainly yours, let none deny you that. Myself least of all.” Vivian. “Mmmhhaaaaaaargh!” I rise. A futile scream at this cursed existence. “Oh morning to you too” Her voice is beside me? Over there. No, that is the faint screeches of things undoing themselves. Pirouettes of pain as they cut themselves open. Hearts presented to. “Hey no, look at me. I’m here, beside you.” Vivian? “Why, why are you the colours? Mmh no, why are you here? Curses upon her, I feel terrible.” I run my hands over the embroidery of the sheets. Vivian prying the shape of my side with her eyes. A weakness reflected in the yawn that proceeds her remark, “Such curses wouldn’t work, from what miniscule amount I know.” That would be a matter of perspective, the imposition of such curses would surely transverse through the facets into… too early for that and she is beside me, “Answer me Vivian. Your presence on my bed is unwelcomed.”

She requires more self-esteem and social awareness. I'd add anti-psychotics too but those haven't been developed yet and I'm not sure they would work; kind of hard to medicate the suffocating presence of a schizophrenic god that you're an emanation of away. She also really needs to go outside more.
