Maybe we could fix our country’s broken moral compass if New York Times writers would use “abhorrent” instead of “controversial” when clearly warranted.

My favorite evergreen Molly Ivins quote:

The NRA buys off Congress. No action on guns.

The oil industry buys off Congress. No action on climate.

Insurance companies buy off Congress. No action on health care.

The list goes on and on.

Money in politics is the root of our dysfunction.

I would suggest the same "logic" applies to guns. They want more guns because "those people" have equal rights, but when actual criminals take those guns and massacre people in, say, Catholic parochial schools in Minneapolis, they don't claim any responsibility, just that the Dems made them to do.
In some ways Ham-Face is the perfect Trump voter: all his decisions blow up in his face but the explanation is always, you don't understand, the radical leftist Joe Biden made us mad.

Liberals: “We could try to DO some things to reduce gun violence; ‘thoughts and prayers’ isn’t enough.”

Republicans: “Outrage! Disgrace! They’re attacking prayer.”

There’s no need to be polite or defensive in response to this. Invoking faith as an excuse to shun responsibility deserves no respect.

The US Air Force honoring an insurrectionist indicates that Trump's Air Force honors the insurrection.

That is more than a "dishonor."
That is a direct threat to our democracy.

Honoring Ashli Babbitt Dishonors the Military
If there’s no difference between upholding the Constitution and attacking it, then there’s no honor in service.

It doesn’t seem like it should be remotely controversial that if you’re killed by police while obviously storming the US Capitol that the military shouldn’t go out of its way years later to honor you, but then again Trump just rehung a portrait of Col. Robert E. Lee at West Point, so….

AOC: We saw Republicans vote to completely gut Medicaid, which covers nearly half of all births in the U.S.
They did this despite the fact that the U.S.—the richest country in the world—also has the highest rate of maternal deaths among all wealthy countries.
