The Heritage Foundation, which is staffing the US presidential administration, has spent the past two weeks mainstreaming actual neo-Nazis into American public life, and much of the American Jewish establishment is panicking about a Muslim mayor of New York City.

There’s not enough attention being paid to the fact that ICE deported a man in a persistent vegetative state

Or the fact that he was perfectly healthy when he was detained, and his family have no idea what was done to him to cause such a severe decline

He died shortly after being deported to Cuba

One analytical model shows that, as of November 5th, the dismantling of U.S.A.I.D. has already caused the deaths of 600,000 people, two-thirds of them children. https://newyorkermag.visitlink.me/jUzNSc

Getting new details on this now:

As the arrest unfolded, teachers pleaded with the agents telling them the teacher had a work permit. The agents went into multiple rooms looking for teachers while children were present. One teacher hid with a child in her care while the agents stormed the facility.

Interested to see who testified at that GJ proceeding because I'd be willing to bet they perjured themselves, or at least made material omissions. It's amazing to me that so many people are willing to risk staying on this ship, expecting that they won't go down with it. Guess we'll see.
Just left the latest hearing in Jim Comey's criminal case. It did not go well for DOJ

The magistrate judge scolded them for an "indict first, investigate second" posture and ordered them to turn over reams of material — including all grand jury info — to Comey's team

Every time Brett Kavanaugh asks a question during oral argument, I’m reminded of the dumbest guy in my law school section who in every single lecture would raise his hand to talk because the professor, for some godforsaken reason, decided to make class participation part of our grades

You should watch this with the sound on to hear how matter-of-fact dystopian the Illinois State Police "warning" is.

Again, not ICE. Pritzker's state police. Who we're told are not assisting ICE.

Just incredibly, unnecessarily cruel. And I’d be shocked if there wasn’t wanton corruption going on here, too.
It literally took decades of advocacy to pass these reforms, which would have prevented prison phone and teleconferencing companies from ripping off inmates and their families to the tune of hundreds of millions annually

I am pleased to announce that I have once again attracted the ire of the right-wing outrage machine for saying things which are observably and unmistakably true. In my defense, these comments were made nearly a decade ago and are even more true now.
