This is the President not only purporting to arrogate unto himself the ability to “take away free speech rights,” but also to do so for speech because it “aggravates and irritates.”

The bottom line is these people running our country are literally foreigners to the concept of democracy.

Trump: "We took the freedom of speech away because that's been through the courts and the courts said you have freedom of speech, but what has happened is when they burn a flag it agitates and irritates crowds."

New Reuters/Ipsos poll: Around 58% of Americans — including seven in 10 Democrats and half of Republicans — feel that the president should only deploy armed troops to "face external threats."

Using Twitter to find Liverpool FC fans, brought me Matt Cox, which brought me the Rowdies, which brought me Kacy. Social media can be great.

Personally? Yes. It brought me into a fun, vibrant soccer community. That community brought me a friend who helped with the loss of my father, who convinced me to start a soccer podcast with him that gave me so many great experiences, that lead to me meeting my now wife and living in NYC.

JB Pritzker and Gavin Newsom are doing something new and important: They understand Stephen Miller's theory of fascist power politics, and they've developed a theory on how to combat it. More Dems need to reckon with Miller's understanding of the moment.

New from me:

Inside Stephen Miller’s Secret Plan to Normalize Trump’s Dictator Rule
He wants to supercharge searing civil tensions to get low-information voters to embrace their inner authoritarian. Exactly two Democrats appear to fully grasp this.

I will not back down.

Trump is now calling for the arrest of elected representatives checking his power.

What else is left on the path to full-blown authoritarianism?

Republicans cut funding to Medicaid so deep it will close rural hospitals making wait times longer. It will force people to Emergency rooms instead of primary care physicians.

It’s not immigrants fucking our healthcare, it’s Mike Johnson and his party

Mike Johnson: "If you're a young, pregnant American citizen women who shows up in an ER and you get treated and they pay the hospital less for treating you than some illegal rabble rouser who came in from some South American country to do us harm, that is wrong."

I want a book like Team of Rivals but of the radical republicans in Congress during the end of the civil war and into Reconstruction.

Unless there is one. If history people can point me there

That's an unbelievably insane thing to punt on.

The fact that he can't say 'no' to what would be a clear authoritarian act is terrifying.

MIKE JOHNSON: Should they be in prison? I'm not the attorney general. I'm not following the day to day on that

I had the pleasure of talking with Bishop Seitz before an event we were both speaking at, and of listening to him speak on immigration. He's a true humanitarian who believes in the fundamental dignity of human beings. Also, really nice guy!

BREAKING: DHS Secretary Kristi Noem stares down army of Antifa and a guy in a chicken suit from the rooftop of the ICE facility here in Portland.
Noem says:
"Hey; Guy in the chicken suit. You can do better.
Too bad they are uneducated and ill-informed."
Noem isn't chicken: [chicken emoji] A view from the roof of the building. There are about 15-20 people visible in total, several of whom appear to be reporters. Most are holding signs. They aren’t even taking up the whole sidewalk. One guy is wearing a chicken suit.

"Speaker Mike Johnson’s abrupt closure of the House may have more to do with stalling a congressional investigation into Jeffrey Epstein’s sex trafficking operation than previously reported, and appears to have been a direct response to the Treasury’s surrender of Epstein’s financial records."
SCOOP: Johnson closed House hours after Congress received Epstein’s financial records
The decision to shut down the House — and by extension the government — came hours after the Oversight Committee received documents from the US Treasury.

This has nothing to do with crime. This is an attempt to crush political dissent.

Never before, in our entire 250 year history, has the military or immigration agents been used like this. It's dystopian, illegal, and it should stop.

These ICE agents aren’t actual trained law enforcement professionals. They are deputized thugs. Violent scum pulled from the J6ers,Three Percenters, and Oath Keepers. They are already so repellent that giving them the chance to physically attack people they already hate is a gift to them.

There are now two Americas when it comes to housing:

In one, people work multiple jobs and still can't afford a home.

In the other, housing isn't a place to live but a portfolio to grow.

Good morning.

The government is shutdown and Republicans are hiding. They aren't even in Washington.

Why? Because Trump thinks he's king. He's told his sycophants to boycott budget talks so he can act lawlessly and steal people's health care to pay for his billionaire tax cut.

This is explosive. Should be explosive. The US AG who said she had the Epstein files on her desk cannot say whether or not the FBI has pix of Trump with half-naked women, which one witness who knew Epstein has said he has seen.

The cover up of the Epstein shit by Mike Johnson and the Republican Party is so…spineless and gross.

They are so committed to it, you can make the argument that MAGA would rather have a pedo at the helm over JD Vance.
