Why canvass for @zohrankmamdani.bsky.social?

1️⃣ 1M votes for Z helps move his agenda.
2️⃣ Neighborhood canvassing builds bases.
3️⃣ Helps build the power of aligned orgs.
4️⃣ Talking with people you don't know is good.
5️⃣ Test your hypotheses.

When? Now thru November 04.

Read this letter from Third Wave Fund’s Co-Executive Director, MARS. Beard, and lock in with us for the long haul. Whether you are a funder, individual with wealth, or a working class organizer – there is a critical role for you in this movement. A thread 🧵

But let it be known that we will not succumb under the weight of authoritarian intimidation. We will not be moved to fear and silence. – MARS. This message is meant less for most primary voters and more for organizers, and in that respect I find it interesting. And I've got to admit: it'd be great if NY WFP could return most of its focus to building the Left (instead of spending half its capacity blocking the Right because the Dems don't).

Today, we released a plan to reform New York’s Democratic Party — laying out a roadmap to expand access, strengthen democracy, and uplift every community across New York.

Together, we can build a future rooted in fairness and opportunity.

After marching on the boss to deliver our demands, Columbia gave us the 3% raises they had been withholding. Of course, we are fighting for so much more. Read more about Columbia’s refusal to bargain with us here:

Yet again, Columbia University refused to bargain with its student workers. Yesterday we caucused together at Trinity Lutheran Church, while the University bargaining team sat in their small room afraid to face us.

NYC-DSA and Socialist Majority member Hoda Mitwally recently spoke with Bashir Abu-Manneh and @ericblanc.bsky.social on @jacobinmag.bsky.social about building and joining "united-front, inside-outside efforts to win a permanent ceasefire... and to win a full arms embargo."

Very good interview of Bashir Abu-Manneh and Hoda Mitwally. (PS—the quote in Eric's post is by Hoda, whose wisdom I and many other fellow @socialistmajority.com comrades often rely for guidance on how best to participate as people in the US in the struggle for Palestinians' survival and liberation.)

"To help cut off US arms to Israel we'd have to more frequently work with people who don’t agree with us on everything. More leftists have to leave their comfort zone of being a powerless opposition, protesting on the sidelines, expressing outrage online"

As @glider.bsky.social once said in a presentation at A-Kon, fandom is powerful. Fandom has great economic power, for starters.

Also, many stories that have fandoms have strong political narratives. These stories can be didactic, especially science fiction.

@getfree-mvmt.bsky.social's role is something I was unaware of. They're doing some really interesting cultural organizing.

No one should have to choose between saying goodbye to a loved one and keeping their job. That's why Lavish Roots dining workers like Odine are organizing the union at Meta's Washington campus.
Tell LAvish Roots:
Respect US “This spring, I got a call that my mother was likely in her last days of life. I had very little accrued leave time, so I was going to get attendance points for every day of work that I missed to go be with her. But because she is my mother, I had to see her. While I stayed with her, I was so worried about my job that I called and asked HR if I could use bereavement leave to cover the time I was away. They told me no – I could only use it after she passed. Grief and loss of a parent is hard enough; on top of that, I had to worry about losing my job. I’m organizing to win our union because no one should have to face the disrespect I experienced at the time I lost my mother.” Odine Valente,

Our main objective in NYC is a million votes for Zohran, with 200k of those on the Working Families line. #VoteZonRowD.

Our secondary objective is to block MAGA. In particular, Kayla Santosuosso's win in District 47 (BK) would not only help block the Right but also help build the Left. VoteWFP.info
Screenshot of the top of the New York Working Families Party's "Vote WFP" website for the 2025 general election. On the upper left is a photo of a multi-racial group of people wearing Working Famlies Party t-shirts and Zohran for NYC campaign bandanas while holding WFP signs or Zohran campaign signs. On the upper right are the words, "Vote WFP: Build power for working people." On the bottom is a black-and-white image of a line from a NYC general-election ballot showing the candidates for NYC mayor. Superimposed on that image is a zoomed-in image of the box for the Working Families Party ballot line; this box is in a conspicuous orange color and shows the letter "D" (since WFP currently occupies the position of "row D" on ballots in New York), with "Zohran Kwame Mamdani" as the candidate, and the bubble next to his name filled in.

Blue Bonds are something states can do today that goes beyond simply managing and slowing down Trump’s destruction of our democracy.

Enough with blueprints for a deferred future when the Left “takes power” through a presidential election. Take *responsibility* now.
