Conversations about drug use/legality need to center on the fact that people don’t become addicted to substances unless they’re self-medicating, either for PTSD, chronic pain, or something else. Addiction is a symptom of illness, not a lifestyle choice or a moral vice.

Yesterday I brought my girlfriend to a family picnic. Not sure if my 88 year old grandpa knew I was gay before that. But she shook his hand after I introduced him and he said “well now this calls for a hug.” Being a lesbian means coming out thousands of times and this was one of my favorite
