I grew up with the Washington Post, wrote editorials for the Washington Post and published a column there for more than 15 years. To watch its owners destroy it, seemingly deliberately, in just a year and a half is devastating.

If Jeff Bezos had any strength of character he would pay someone to take the newspaper he's destroyed off his hands and contribute money to a trust to restore it.

Crazy idea: Given what Trump's said, update the "final list" to include it.

funny how the man who cost the Washington Post hundreds of thousands in subscriptions by canceling the paper's presidential endorsement—almost certainly the most destructive decision in the history of the paper, if not journalism itself—still has his job

My heart breaks for the editors, reporters, and staff at The Washington Post who try to serve the public with integrity and don't deserve this. And also: many of us saw this coming from a mile away. Jeff Bezos has destroyed this once great American institution.

A profound tragedy, not just for those involved but for public knowledge overall.

Completely avoidable tragedy, wrought by plutocrat who has entered "they were careless people, they smashed up things..." hall of infamy.

I don't know what it is about idiots who buy newspapers without understanding why they exist or what their business is, but I think gutting books coverage is some kind of canary in the coalmine. These jackasses don't read books, so they assume no one else does either.

This has to be right up with one of America’s darkest time. ICE KILLING Americans, arresting honest hard working immigrants, similar to the same white immigrants arresting them.
DISGUSTING, HORRIBLE AND EVIL. America cannot survive as a nation with this kind of leadership.

Speaking to WaPo employees, editor Matt Murray says cuts are about “positioning ourselves to become more essential to people's lives, and what is becoming a more crowded, competitive and complicated media landscape, and after some years when, candidly, the Post has had struggles to do that."

It’s important to realize that the subtext of Trump freaking out at Kaitlan Collins when she asks him what he’d say to the Epstein survivors is that she may in practice be asking what he’d say to the *Trump* survivors, and they both know that. A well worded question
This isn’t some anonymous tip. This is sworn testimony, under penalty of perjury, from someone who said Trump threatened to kill her if she exposed Epstein’s sexual abuse.
